When Does It Premiere, And Where To Watch?
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 is set to premiere on January 6, 2023. The Emmy Award-winning competition show has also found a new home. The series has shifted to MTV from its longtime network home of VH1 where it premiered in Season 9. Even though little has been announced regarding the series, RuPaul revealed in her prior statement:
“When I hear season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, I have to pinch myself — I just won’t tell you where. We never take for granted the opportunity we’ve been given to showcase drag excellence and tell authentic queer stories. Thank you to the fans, World of Wonder, VH1, our cast and crew, and most of all, our brave and beautiful queens.” Interestingly, Season 15 will also tape its 200th episode milestone for the season.
A Lot More On The Bucket List…
The reason for choosing a new network house comes as a part of ViacomCBS’s global expansion of the Drag Race franchise. This will include three new Drag Race spin-offs in Brazil, Mexico and Germany. These spin-offs will air on Paramount+ and MTV and are under production.
Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios stated: “With the global expansion of RuPaul’s Drag Race, we’re thrilled to bring the franchise into three new Paramount+ territories – Germany, Brazil and Mexico – and are very excited that RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race will return for a third season with our partners at VH1/BET.”
Apart from this, Scott Mills, President/CEO of BET, said: “We are big fans of the Drag Race franchise and thrilled to bring back RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race for another season on VH1.” Yes, per this announcement, the third season of RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race is also set to premiere. However, a date hasn’t been announced.
Lastly, the first-ever Global All-Stars edition of Drag Race is in the works at Paramount+. RuPaul’s Drag Race documents RuPaul in the search for “America’s next drag superstar”. This show has become the highest-rated television program on Logo TV.
RuPaul’s Drag race airs internationally, in countries like the Netherlands, Australia, the United Kingdom, US and Israel. Of course, now it has undergone a global expansion. The show has received six consecutive Emmys (from 2016-2021) for “Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program”. And guess what? 2023 seems to bring more thrill in terms of these upcoming drag races. Are you ready?
