What Happened in Episode 1048:Recap
The episode is titled “For the future Yamato and the great swordsmen’s Pledge.” Episode 1048 begins with Kaido discouraging Yamato that Luffy will not return and that fighting against Kaido is worthless.
However, Yamato does not believe him. These threats would not make him hopeless. Furthermore, Kaido states that by taking on Oden’s identity, Yamato has broken the family ties. Hence, their fight is not a family matter. The fight between the two intensifies as both powerful exchange blows.
Else Luffy sits on Momonosuke’s back to return to Onigashima. Momonosuke is in his Dragon form and tries to fly. However, Momonosuke is frightened by their flying height and falls. In a flashback, a young Yamato tries to attack the guards to free Wano. However, in his attempt to attack the guards, he uses Conqueror’s Haki, which collapses most guards.
A heavily injured Yamato is shown who has been caught by Kaido’s guards. Yamato’s determination and power impress Kaido. Nevertheless, Kaido would rather have a dead son than Yamato take on Oden’s identity. Kaido then imprisons Yamato in cave.
