Gotham Awards 2022 Full Nominees List: ‘Tár’ Leads With 5 Nominations

The list of nominees for the 2022 Gotham Awards has been revealed. For those of you who are unaware, let us tell you, the Gotham Awards recognize and honor talented people in front and behind the camera for their groundbreaking work in films, as well as television.

The Gotham Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, October 25, 2022. This year, the Parent organization the Gotham Film & Media Institute has nominated 15 series, 23 feature films, and 35 performances. Who is leading the list of nominees for the Gotham Awards 2022?

Todd Field’s psychological drama film Tár led the list of Gotham Awards nominees with a total of 5 nods, for Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Outstanding Lead Performance for Cate Blanchett, and Outstanding Supporting Performances for Nina Hoss and Noemi Merlant.

Tár was closely followed by Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun which got nominated in 4 categories. Meanwhile, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Women Talking  and The Inspection nabbed 3 nominations each. In addition to Tár, other nominees for the Best Feature category are as follows: Aftersun and Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Cathedral, and Dos Estaciones.

When we talk about the television side, the following shows bagged 2 nominations each, Abbott Elementary, Pachinko, Station Eleven, Severance, This Is Going to Hurt, Yellowjackets, and As We See It. 

All That Breathes by Shaunak Sen, is vying for Best Documentary Feature alongside Laura Poitras’s All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, I Didn’t See You There by Reid Davenport, The Territory by Alex Pritz, and What We Leave Behind by Iliana Sosa.

It was previously announced that Hustle star Adam Sandler and The Fabelman’s star Michelle Williams will be getting performer tributes at the award ceremony in New York. Since the last year, the Gotham Awards has also begun to recognize performances in gender-neutral categories.

When will Gotham Awards 2022 take place?

The nominations for the 2022 Gotham Awards were announced live at Cipriani Wall Street, where the awards ceremony itself will take place next month by American Horror Story actress Angelica Ross and executive director of the Gotham Film & Media Institute, Jeffrey Sharp.

It has been revealed that this year, more than 500 films and TV shows were submitted for consideration. At one point, Sharp said, “These filmmakers demonstrated tremendous courage and invention in the production of their work.”

The 2022 Gotham Awards will take place at Cipriani Wall Street in New York on November 28, 2022, Monday. The final award recipients will be determined by separate juries of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors, and others directly involved in making films.
