TikTok users are very fond of personality tests and quizzes. Previously, trends like “What human feeling are you” and the “Mental Age test” also went viral on TikTok and amassed millions of views.

What is the Love Language Test that is going viral on TikTok?

The Love Language Test which is trending on TikTok recently comes from the 5 Love Languages website. It was launched by marriage counselor Gary Chapman who first developed the theory with the same title in 1992.

TikTok users are simply taking the test, screenshotting the results, and sharing the video keeping it as the background alongside their reaction. Many of the videos around this trend are using a sped-up version of “Baby Came Home 2/ The Valentines” by The Neighborhood.

There have been more than 110,000 videos around this trend and the hashtag #lovelanguages alone garnered more than 325 million views. TikTok users are really loving this wholesome and interesting trend of exploring love languages.

Origins of the Love Language Test by Gary Chapman

The theory of Love Languages was proposed by the American author and marriage counselor Gary Chapman. He first revealed it in his most popular book “The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate” (1992).

Chapman stated in the book that there are five main ways that a person expresses love toward a romantic partner-

  1. Quality Time: Wanting to spend alone time with someone or doing a fun activity with your partner.
  2. Acts of Service: Performing tasks to assist them or helping them.
  3. Receiving and Giving Gifts: Sharing gifts, presents, and surprises between one another.
  4. Words of Affirmation: Verbally encouraging someone and vocally admiring them.
  5. Physical Touch: Having physical contact with your partner like hugs, kisses, etc.

These were the five languages of love explained in Chapman’s book. The book became a bestseller across the globe and was on The New York Times bestseller list from 2009 to 2013.

How to take the Love Language Test?

The process to take the Love Language test is pretty simple but lengthy as the quiz consists of 33 questions. You can start the test by going to the 5 Love Languages website in a browser and clicking on “Start the Quiz.”

Firstly, you’ll have to select one of these three categories- “I’m an Adult,” “I’m a Teenager,” and “I’m taking the quiz for my child.” The website won’t ask for any personal details and you can continue without worrying about anything.

The quiz will also ask if you are single or in a relationship. You can select the response accordingly and initiate the main series of questions. Some of the questions are follow-up interrogations based on your previous answers.

Answer all the questions calmly and seriously after carefully reading them. Some of them may even feel a bit boring and repetitive but don’t just give up. Finally, you’ll be able to view the results and your five love languages.

Post the Love Language Test results on TikTok

Now that you have taken the Love Language test, the next step is to share the results on TikTok. To do that, capture a clear screenshot of the Love Language quiz result and edit it according to your preferences.

Next, launch the TikTok app and tap on the “+” icon to record a new video. Select the love language quiz result as the background of your video and capture yourself reacting to it. You can also add other elements from your creativity.

You can add this sound to your love language TikTok and don’t forget to add the relevant hashtags. Don’t forget to add a cool caption that goes by the video. Finally, post it on TikTok.

Love Languages are also trending on other social media apps like Instagram, Snapchat, etc. You can also post the results there if you prefer them over TikTok in the same manner.

Is the Love Language Test really accurate?

The Love Language theory is proposed by author and marriage counselor Gary Chapman who first presented it in his book published in 1992. Hence, there are certain counter-theories that the perspective shared in the book doesn’t relate correctly with modern times.

Still, the book and the theory are widely talked about as the five languages of love he proposed are relevant to this date. No one is able to disprove the quiz. Instead, there is social science research proving that such personality tests actually work.

Dating coach Sam Whittaker stated in an interview that knowing your love language can help you understand how to care for your partner. “Problems can stem from not knowing your partner’s love language, because the way that you’re showing your love may not be the same way that your partner wants to be loved.”

This quiz can help you explore your languages of love which will further help strengthen your relationship with your partner. It isn’t only restricted to your partner, you can also utilize the test for your other relationships.

Another option is to take the quiz as yet another passing trend and have fun with anyone including your friends and followers on TikTok and other social platforms.
