‘Will & Grace’ Actor Leslie Jordan, 67, Dies in Fatal Car Crash

Leslie Jordan Dies in a Car Crash

The LAPD has confirmed that Leslie Jordan crashed his car into the side of a building in Hollywood around 9:30 am local time on Monday. The police suspect that the actor suffered a medical emergency that led to the accident.

Jordan’s rep, David Shaul, has released a statement confirming his demise. “The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan. Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times,” read the statement.

He added, “What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner and human being. Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today.”

Jordan’s Co-Stars Mourn his Death

After the sad news broke, the actor’s co-stars and friends started expressing their grief on social media. Sean Hayes, who worked with Jordan in Will & Grace, tweeted, “My heart is broken. Leslie Jordan was one of the funniest people I ever had the pleasure of working with. Everyone who ever met him, loved him.  There will never be anyone like him.”

“A unique talent with an enormous, caring heart. You will be missed, my dear friend,” he added. Another co-actor, Jackée Harry tweeted, “Completely heartbroken. Leslie Jordan was a kind spirit and provided us with so many laughs. Rest peacefully, friend.”

George Takei also mourned the actor’s death and wrote. “I am stunned at the death of Leslie Jordan, who delighted us with his many roles on television and film. The cause of death was a car crash after he suffered a medical emergency. Leslie, we are heartbroken at your loss and will miss your mirth and your inimitable spirit.”

Leslie Jordan won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2006

Jordan studied theatre at the University of Tennessee and moved to LA in 1982 to pursue a career in acting. He made appearances in a number of movies and TV shows, including, Sordid Lives, The Help, Murphy Brown, Ugly Betty, and Boston Public.

The actor got wide recognition for his portrayal of Beverly Leslie on NBC’s Will & Grace. The same role earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2006.

Leslie was openly gay, and was considered an icon for many queer people. In 2020, when the pandemic started to hit and a huge part of the world was locked down, the actor got viral on social media with his funny videos, going from 50,000 Instagram followers to 5.8 million followers.
