Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed the second expansion for the World of Warcraft Classic this Tuesday, in the same live stream where they announced the WoW: Dragonflight expansion. WoW Classic: Wrath of the Lich King is officially announced now, and beta sign-up has started.
Just like the previous versions of WoW Classic, fans will know what’s coming with the fan-favorite Wrath of the Lich King expansion, but it will still feature certain changes and new additions.
Originally, WoW: Wrath of the Lich King launched in 2008, and Arthas is making its return later this year. Classic players will again be able to explore the massive Northrend map and witness the exciting elements that once turned a lot of eyes towards WoW.
“His evil is legend. His power and malice unparalleled. Lord of the undead Scourge, wielder of the cursed runeblade Frostmourne, and nemesis of the living, the Lich King will stop at nothing until all life on Azeroth is extinguished. Relive the legend and end his reign,” the live stream stated.
What is the Release Date for WoW Classic: Wrath of the Lich King?
Blizzard Entertainment has announced Wrath of the Lich King as the second expansion for WoW Classic. However, the developer and publisher didn’t share a specific release date for WoW Classic: Wrath of the Lich King.
The good thing is that one of the best WoW expansions will be coming to WoW Classic later this year. The official website states, “The Lich King Returns. Play Burning Crusade Classic™ today and face the Lich King in 2022.”

What to expect from WoW Classic: Wrath of the Lich King?
Players can expect everything that the original Wrath of the Lich King had in the upcoming WoW Classic expansion. For a refresher, the goal is to defeat the evil Lich King who is sitting on the frozen throne in Northrend and possesses powers over death.
This time, the expansion will feature several new zones on the massive map for the players to explore as they find their way toward the tower of Icecrown. Your journey will begin in one of the two zones, Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord.
The upcoming expansion will also add the Death Knight class, which is WoW’s first hero class. Players can create it with no special requirements and it starts at level 55. This expansion will also up the WoW Classic’s level cap to 80.
A new profession, Inscription, is also coming with Wrath of the Lich King. It allows players to scribe mystical glyphs that modify the properties of spells and abilities, and craft powerful trinkets and off-hand items.
Players will also be able to re-explore the classic dungeons including Violet Hold and Culling of Stratholme and experience the raids that were available in the original expansion. However, it was revealed that the Dungeon Finder will not be available in the expansion.
How much will WoW: Wrath of the Lich King cost?
WoW Classic: Wrath of the Lich King will be available to World of Warcraft subscribers at no additional cost. It’ll be a free update to WoW Classic for subscribers only. You can subscribe right away from the official website.
