Exploring everything about Tommy Lee

He released 20 albums including studio, compilations, and live. Out of these 20, six have gone platinum. He also had a great career as a solo singer.

Early Life

Tommy Lee was born in the year 1962 as Thomas Lee Bass in Athens, Greece. His dad was a U.S. Army sergeant and his mother was Miss Greece in 1960. When he was just one year old, his family relocated to California.

He received his first drum sticks at the age of four and a complete drum kit when he was a teenager. He was very fond of hard rock and heavy metal music like Kiss, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple.

During his school days, Lee was a drummer before he decided to drop out to pursue his dream of being in a rock band. Studio 19 was Lee’s first band. Lee met Nikki Sixx at a Studio 19 show who later became Mötley Crüe bandmate.

Heavy metal band Mötley Crüe

Nikki Sixx was looking forward to a highly theatrical and heavy metal band and he realized that he found his drummer when he saw Lee performing. Sixx convinced Lee to leave Studio 19 and join him in the Mötley Crüe band.

Lee suggested his high school singer friend, Vince Neil, to round out the new band. Under the band’s own independent label, Mötley Crüe released their debut album Too Fast For Love in 1981.

Warner music group record label company, Elektra Records then signed Mötley Crüe and re-released Too Fast For Love in 1982. Subsequently, Mötley Crüe released a series of super hit albums like Shout at the Devil (1983), Theatre of Pain (1985), Girls, Girls, Girls (1987), and Dr. Feelgood (1989).

Real Estate Investments

Tommy purchased a house in the hills of Malibu in 1995 for $837,886. He shared this home with his ex-wife Pamela Anderson.

In one of the episodes of “MTV Cribs” broadcasted in the year 2000, this Malibu house was toured. A decade later he sold the house for $2.5 million.

Unfortunately, the Malibu mansion was devastated by a fire in the year 2019 and Tommy posted many photos and videos on his Instagram handle after the fire was doused.

Tommy listed his Calabasas, California house for an amount of $4.65 million in 2018. The house is spread across an area of 10,000-square-foot which has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms along with indoor waterfalls and a retractable glass roof.
