Here’s everything about the popular Dr. Pimple Popper!
The career of Dr. Sandra Lee
Lee’s career as a dermatologist first started with her working part-time as a medical assistant for an allergist, while she was doing her undergraduate from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Born in December 1970, in Queens, New York, Lee graduated medical school at the Drexel University College of Medicine in 1998. And the 51-year old completed her dermatology residency at Southern Illinois University. She then moved to San Diego to take her career to the next level, by exploring as well as experimenting with dermatological and cosmetic surgery.
After years of hardworking and efforts, Lee is now a certified dermatologist. She is also the part of a revered organisation named the American Academy of Dermatology. It is a non-profit, professional organisation based in Rosemont, which consists of dermatologists.
Lee also launched her own line of skincare products called SLMD Skincare Products, back in 2017.
The journey of Lee as Dr. Pimple Popper
Although Lee started putting up videos on YouTube since 2010, it wasn’t until 2015 that she started gaining popularity for her content.
Currently, Lee has about 7.3 million people subscribing to her YouTube channel under the name of Dr. Pimple Popper. And her viewer count is around one billion.
She was also nominated for the category of “Female Star of the Year” in the Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards, and won the title in 2019 as well as in 2020.
In 2018, Lee opened up the doorway to the television industry for herself as she signed with TLC to have her very own televisions series named Dr. Pimple Popper. The series first started on January 3, 2018, with “an hour-long special”, before its first season aired on July 11, 2018.
The series starred Dr. Sandra Lee herself as she met with patients who were afflicted with “unusual cases of facial and skin disorders”, and helped them with the necessary treatment. The show took place in Upland, California, at her clinic, Skin Physicians and Surgeons, itself.
Dr. Pimple Popper kept becoming more and more popularly, especially among women. The fifth season of the show started to air on Discovery+ but the series came back on TLC from the six season onwards. Now, it has a total of 7 seasons, and the seventh one premiered on February 16, 2022.
The show was presented by Dr. Sandra Lee and was produced through Ping Pong Productions; Casey Brumels, Scott Cooper, Brad Kuhlman, and Mike Kane worked as the executive producers of the show.
