Curtis James Jackson III was born in the year 1975 in Queens, New York City. His mother passed away when he was just eight years old. His grandmother raised him.

He started boxing at the age of 11. He began dealing with drugs when he was 12 and got guns and drugs inside school premises which led to his arrest.

He was arrested again on 29th June 1994 for drug selling to an undercover police officer. After a few days, he was again arrested under charges of dealing with drugs and possession of a pistol and served six months in boot camp.

Jackson gained prominence when his controversial song, “How To Rob” was released in 1999. A year later, he was shot by a gunman outside his grandmother’s home and was later hospitalized for 13 days. The gunman fired nine shots consecutively injuring him severely.

He was signed by Columbia records when he was in hospital but later dropped when he wanted to publish the song “Ghetto Qu’ran.”

Journey Towards Success

Eminem played a pivotal role in his rap career when he invited Jackson to Los Angeles to meet Dr. Dre.

He released “No Mercy, No Fear” and his soundtrack was featured in  Eminem’s movie “8 Mile”. 50 Cent gained prominence with his debut album “Get Rich or Die Trying” in 2003.

It debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard charts and sold more than a million copies in less than one week. The lead single, “In Da Club,” created a record by becoming the most-listened-to song in the history of radio in less than a week.

His next album “The Massacre”, released in 2005 was another commercial success that sold 1.14 million copies in less than five days. He then went on to release a number of albums and sold more than 21 million units as of 2022.

Endorsement Deals

There were unconfirmed reports that the rapper sold his stake in Effen Vodka for $60 million. 50 Cent disclosed this on his social media handle to confirm that the deal happened. However the financial details of the deal were not confirmed.

As there is official confirmation these figures are not yet factored in the compilation of his net worth. 50 Cent entered a pact with Starz in a four-year deal estimated to be worth $150 million for his drama show “Power”.

Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

50 Cent reportedly owns several properties. He purchased a 17-acre property in 2003 in Connecticut that was spread across 50,000 square-foot for $4.1 million. The property has 37 bathrooms, 21 bedrooms, a gym, a casino, and a nightclub. He tried to sell his house for $18.5 million in 2007 but could not succeed.
