This particular glitch makes the users view the same stories multiple times whenever they open someone’s story. For example, if a celeb or your friend has posted around 10 stories at different times during the day. This bug will make you watch all 10 stories from the beginning every time you tap on the “Stories” icon.
However, usually, the app only shows the stories that you haven’t seen previously. The new ones automatically open when you view someone’s story. It’s a very annoying experience when you’ve to watch all the stories just to spot the recently posted one.

How to Fix Instagram Stories Repeating Glitch?
Instagram has rolled out an update for iOS users this morning that has fixed the bug/ glitch causing stories to repeat continuously. iOS users can simply head over to the App Store and update the Instagram app to resolve the issue. Follow these steps:
- Go to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Search Instagram and visit its page.
- Now tap on the “Update” button.
- Wait for the installation of the latest update.
Once the app is updated to version 239.1, you won’t experience the Instagram Stories repeating glitch. You’ll be able to view them normally as you would’ve been doing previously.
The patch notes for version 239.1 state, “The latest version contains bug fixes and performance improvements.” Instagram has likely fixed the annoying glitch, thankfully.
Meta spokesperson, Christine Pai, told The Verge in an email, “Earlier today, some people were having trouble accessing Instagram Stories. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
The update’s notes merely say, “The latest version contains bug fixes and performance improvements,”
