Jonathan showed off his body transformation in a TikTok video
On Thursday, the Love That Story: Observations from a Gorgeously Queer Life author took to his TikTok to share a health update with his fans. In the TikTok video, he told his fans that he lost a whopping 35 pounds with the help of a nutritionist.
In the video, while showing off his transformation, Jonathan said, “I got a nutritionist back in April. I’ve lost 35 lbs. Here’s the thing, I wanted to change my body size because of my gymnastics and my career.”
Ness went on to say, “My body was hurting, my back was hurting, I was hot as f—. I got a nutritionist because I wanted to do more gymnastics. I wanted to do more stuff, I wanted to feel better.”
Jonathan Van Ness spilled the beans on his weight loss
The 35-year-old star also told his fans that these results didn’t happen overnight. He continued, “It took three weeks before I saw any change. So if you’re wanting to make a change, literally three weeks of working out and eating differently before I saw any change, that was from April to May.”
Jonathan added, “So if you’re thinking about it or you’re getting super frustrated, it took me three weeks for anything to change, and now I’ve lost 35 lbs! So now I’m a slut.” He concluded the caption of the post by writing, “Changes take time ❤️ love you!”
Jonathan Van Ness struggled with disordered eating while growing up
Yes, you read that right. Way back in 2019, Jonathan shared his journey with health and body image. At that time, he confessed that while growing up, he struggled with disordered eating which got worse because then, there was no conversation about male body image.
While speaking with Allure editor-in-chief Michelle Lee on The Allure Podcast, Ness said, “We talk about body shaming, body positivity, and what the female gender encounters in that realm. I think in the male side that is not talked about quite as much, and I know I was severely impacted by that my whole life.”
Jonathan said, “I think what really has changed the most is that I’m aware of the unrealistic beauty expectations that are forced down their throats, and that they always have been, and have narrower ideas of what beauty are. And really, it’s realizing that this system doesn’t fit me. It’s not that I don’t fit the system.”
