Mindy Kaling is an actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. She rose to prominence after playing the role of Kelly Kapoor in the hit NBC sitcom The Office (2005–2013). For her great work on the show, she bagged a nomination for Primetime Emmy Award for  Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.

Later on, Mindy garnered the attention of the fans when she began creating, producing, and starring in the Fox comedy series The Mindy Project (2012–2017). Then, in 2018, she created the NBC sitcom Champions (2018) and went on to star in five episodes of the show.

Throughout the course of her acting career, Kaling has appeared in many films such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), No Strings Attached (2011), The Five-Year Engagement  (2012), The Night Before (2015), A Wrinkle in Time and Ocean’s 8 (both 2018), and Late Night (2019).

In addition to this, she has also voiced characters in movies including Despicable Me (2010), Wreck-It Ralph (2012), and Inside Out (2015). In 2011, she published her memoir titled, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns). She wrote another book named Why Not Me? which came out in the year 2015. The book reached The New York Times Best Seller list.

Recently, Mindy stepped out for the premiere of the second season of the show The Sex Life of College Girls. At the event, she looked gorgeous as ever in a low-cut black vintage Versace skirt suit. She looked much fitter during her recent outing.

Over the last couple of months, Mindy Kaling has had quite an incredible transformation. As per a report by The Guardian, she has lost more than 40 pounds “after learning to enjoy exercising and eating smaller portions.”

The Sex Lives of College Girls co-creator has been making heads turn with her amazing weight loss transformation. Last week, she was snapped at a party celebrating the upcoming second season of HBO Max’s The Sex Life of College Girls. 

Kaling made a style statement at the event. She flaunted her toned figure in a black vintage Versace skirt suit. Her outfit consisted of short sleeves and a square neckline highlighted by a low-cut bustier-style look.

At that time, Mindy posted a few pictures from the event on the social media platform Instagram. “We had the best @thesexlivesofcollegegirls Career Night co-hosted by @phenomenal media and my friend @meena, followed by Homecoming, our premiere! Turns out I’m not great at beer pong or posing for 360 cams! But I loved seeing our gorgeous + incredible cast and writers to celebrate the new season – which is SO GOOD – out next week!” she wrote alongside the snaps.

What is the secret behind weight loss of Mindy Kaling?

In an interview with Today, Mindy spilled the beans on her weight loss journey and stated how she managed to lose those extra kilos. She revealed that she has made fitness a priority in her life. She stays fit by doing multiple activities like running, walking, yoga, pilates, strength training, tai chi, and more.

Kaling said, “In my 20s, I thought a workout had to be something that was punishing, like 45 minutes of running and you had to hate it the whole time. I don’t have that relationship with exercise anymore.”

The A Wrinkle in Time star went on to say, “Sometimes I’ll be like, ‘Well, I have four different times today where I have 10 minutes so let’s just walk instead of sitting down and checking Instagram.’ So instead of it being like one chunk of exercise in the beginning of the day or none at all, I’m now just deciding that I’m going to be a more active person all the time.”

The mom of two disclosed that she was in the limelight during her first pregnancy. At that time, she had a lot of pressure on her to lose weight and be back in good shape. She was supposed to film two months after giving birth.

When we talk about Mindy’s second pregnancy, she became more aware of what she was eating after welcoming her second child, Spencer in September 2020. At that point, due to quarantine, she had a lot of time for maternity leave.


At that time, The This is The End star revealed that she was relieved to spend some time away from the flashing cameras and the scrutiny while concentrating on her health. When Mindy was questioned about the secret to her brilliant transformation, she stated that she only followed a healthy diet.

Mindy went on to say that eating some foods in small portions was better than following a rigid diet. In a media interaction, she said, “I eat what I like to eat. If I do any kind of restrictive diet, it never really works for me. I just eat less of it. I wish there was something more juicy or dynamic about the way that I’ve lost a little bit of weight, but that’s the way I’ve done it.”

It looks like Kaling has been able to lose weight by mindful eating. Every now and then, she is seen promoting a positive, healthy body image on social media. She has been a role model for many women out there. She motivates people to put their health first rather than allowing the opinions of others to affect them negatively.

In recent years, Mindy has noticed the confidence and body positivity of the younger actors that she has worked with. She has also claimed that they have somewhat influenced her weight loss and fitness journey. She stated that she needs to have a positive outlook for herself and that she wants to instill the same values in her kids.
