Unfortunately, the world-renowned composer and pianist Burt Bacharach has died. He passed away at the age of 94 from natural causes at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, February 8. The heartbreaking news of his demise was shared by his publicist, Tina Brausam.

Burt composed hundreds of pop songs from the late 1950s. He created many tracks in collaboration with lyricist Hal David. He penned hits for artists like Gene Pitney, Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, Jackie DeShannon, and many more.

At first, the prolific composer got married to actress Paula Stewart. The two of them exchanged their vows in the year 1953. According to her IMDb page, Burt provided accompaniment and wrote arrangements while she performed her Nice To See You act at the Versailles Club in 1953 and they reportedly got hitched around the same time. Their marriage wasn’t built to last for eternity as they called it quits after 5 years of marriage in 1958.

Paula was an entertainer and she performed in many different aspects of the entertainment business. Back in the day, she was a part of many live performances including multiple plays and musicals on Broadway. Keeping aside her music career, she also starred in a couple of movies and TV shows and even donned the producer’s hat for the 1970 movie Dinah East.

After his split from his first wife Paula Stewart, Burt moved on in his life with Gun The Man Down actress Angie Dickinson. The couple exchanged their vows in 1965. They welcomed a daughter together and named her Nikki. They pulled the plug on their relationship after 15 years together in 1981.

Angie was a popular actress who appeared in movies like China Gate (1957), Ocean’s 11 (1960), The Sins of Rachel Cade (1961), Jessica (1962),  Captain Newman, M.D. (1963), The Killers  (1964), and The Art of Love (1965). Along with this, she also starred in a few major films such as Rio Bravo and Dressed to Kill. She even bagged nominations for three Primetime Emmys.

Sadly, the former couple’s only daughter Nikki died by suicide in January 2007. She left for the heavenly abode at the age of 40 after she was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome as a child.

As per Hollywood Reporter, at that time, her family revealed that she had taken her life via a statement that read, “She loved kitties, and earthquakes, glacial calving, meteor showers, science, blue skies and sunsets, and Tahiti.”

Carole Bayer Sager was Burt Bacharach’s third wife

The late composer’s third marriage came in 1982. He wed his third wife Carole Bayer Sager, 75, in October 1982. Just like her former partner Burt, Carole is an incredibly successful songwriter in her own right. Over the years, she has penned many hit songs like “You’re Moving Out Today” from her self-titled debut record in 1977.

Throughout their marriage, Burt and Carole joined hands for a couple of songs such as Oscar-winning “Arthur’s Theme,” sung by Christopher Crossfrom the 1981 movie Arthur. In the year 1985, the couple adopted a son Christopher Elton Bacharach. The pair decided to go their separate ways in 1991.

During a 2015 interview with The Telegraph, Burt talked about his former relationships and said that he “didn’t mean to hurt anybody.” In the interview, he went on to say, I thought I was a good kid, and I didn’t mean to hurt anybody but when you wind up being married four times, there are a lot of bodies strewn in your wake.”
