Let’s Explore The Filming Locations Of Spiderhead
Begin, principal photography for the movie began in November 2022 at one of the most famous filming locations. It is, in fact, Queensland, Australia. The shooting location also included several areas.
And there’s something else that’s surprising. The movie was supposed to be shot in the United States, but Hemsworth insisted on filming it in Australia. And Hemsworth laughed and stated that he will not take part in the movie unless it is shot in Australia.
The actor stated, “The last three or four films I’ve done were supposed to shoot in Atlanta or the UK, and I said, ‘I’m not doing it unless it shoots here.’ I’ve said that a few times, and sometimes it goes in my favor and sometimes not, and that’s when I’ll see one of those other Chrises off in the role up in the UK or somewhere.”
Hemsworth added, “This was, I think, going to shoot in Atlanta, and I said: ‘Look, I really don’t want to leave home right now, I love shooting here, we have such brilliant crew and cast and talent to use, and locations…’
To the credit of Netflix and the production team, they pivoted and built the sets in Queensland, turned the [Gold Coast] Convention Centre into a studio, and we shot the film in five weeks or something, which is unheard of for a film of this size.”
City Of Gold Coast, Australia
The Gold Coast will undoubtedly be featured in any film shot in Australia. The main sequences of the movie were actually filmed over here.
According to Hemsworth, the team shifted and constructed the sets in Queensland, converted the Gold Coast Convention Centre into a studio, and shot the movie in five weeks or so, much to the credit of Netflix and the production team.
Hinze Dam in the lush Gold Coast hinterland and Tallebudgera Valley, both 30 to 40 minutes from downtown Gold Coast, were used for filming.
Shooting scenes also took place in the Whitsundays, a popular tourist destination on Queensland’s northeast coast, supporting the movie with a broad sense of the field of view.
They have dense rainforests, hiking trails, and white sand beaches. Every year, visitors from all over the world flock to the Whitsundays. For its super clean silica sand beaches, lavish island resorts, thriving fringing reefs, and ideal tropical temperatures.
Along with that the location also includes Darlington.
Location Of The Movie Reminded Tommy Harper Of ‘Home‘
Tommy Harper the producer of the movie actually complimented the location and remarked that it actually feels like home.
“It feels very at home for me. In California, you can have a lot of different locations in one place, and I feel like Queensland in particular is just like that.
The great thing about this area is you can be on the beach, you can do waterwork, you can be in the desert, you could be in the country and feel like you’re in Texas you can be in a rainforest and feel like you’re in Hawaii.”
Kylie Munnich, CEO of Screen Queensland mentioned something about the crew choosing the location for the movie.
“Queensland has so much to offer in terms of locations, climate, experienced crew, and top facilities like the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast, and Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane.
We thank Tommy Harper and Netflix, and invite productions to contact us to discover just why Queensland has been selected as the location for 8 out of the 12 international productions secured into Australia since July 2020.”
It’s no surprise that we fell in love with the locations. You are welcome to leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
