The Traitors are coming back! Peacock has renewed the reality show for a second season following the success of the first instalment. The show follows 20 contestants, including 10 faithful and 10 traitors, who compete against each other to win prize money.

Announcing the renewal, Corie Henson, NBCUniversal’s EVP of entertainment unscripted content, said, “The Traitors is an ambitious, highly addictive and spontaneous format that keeps contestants and viewers on their toes.”

“Alan Cumming is a well-dressed genius, the producers at Studio Lambert are brilliant storytellers, and the show is the perfect mix of drama and suspense to keep our Traitors and Faithfuls craving more,” she added.

Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, said, “We hugely enjoyed making the US version of this hit format with NBC and giving Peacock’s audience a highly binge-able murder mystery game full of intrigue and dramatic twists.”

He continued, “This is the game which shows how people judge each other, often leaping to false conclusions, in a way that’s revealing and entertaining, and we’re excited to be making a second season with Alan as together we build on the success of the first.”

A Reunion Special will be Released Featuring First Season Contestants

The streaming platform also announced a reunion special, which will bring the cast of the first season together. The episode will be released on February 28. This will mark the first time the contestants will come together after the finale.

The reality show featured twenty contestants, three of whom were selected as ‘Traitors’ by the host. The cast had to face a series of challenges and figure out the traitors among them. If they succeeded, they would have won a cash prize of $250,000; otherwise, the money would have gone to the traitors.

The first season had a mix of famous contestants from previous reality shows and common people. The contestants included Cirie Fields (Survivor: Panama), Arie Luyendyk Jr. (The Bachelorette 8), Kate Chastain (Below Deck), Stephenie LaGrossa (Survivor: Palau), Rachel Reilly (Big Brother 12), Cody Calafiore (Big Brother 16),

The rest of the cast included Summer House star Kyle Cooke, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville and Shahs of Sunset star Reza Farahan, along with Andie Vanacore, Quentin Jiles, Christian de la Torre, Shelbe Rodriguez, Anjelica Conti, Amanda Clark-Stoner, Ryan Lochte, Michael Davidson, Azra Valani, Robert Nieves and Geraldine Moreno.

The Traitors generated a lot of buzz on its release and garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. The show has an approval rating of 95% on rotten tomatoes. The executive producers include Toni Ireland, Sam Rees-Jones, Stephen Lambert, Mike Cotton, Jack Burgess and Tim Harcourt. Studio Lambert has produced the reality show.
