The Chosen Season 4: Will the Series Based on Jesus’ Life Return with Another Season?

The Chosen is the first show based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth that has followed a multi-season approach. The religious historical drama premiered in 2017 and has so far aired three seasons. Over the years, the series has become the largest crowdfunded television or film project in history.

The third season of the show concluded recently, with a special two-episode finale which was released theatrically. Viewers are now eager to know if The Chosen will be returning to screens with a fourth season. Read on to find out.

Will The Chosen Return with Season 4

Angel Studios is surely planning to bring The Chosen back with a fourth season since the crowdfunding of the project is already in process. Fans can not only donate to the project on Angel Studios’ website but can also view the progress made in the funding so far.

At the time of writing, the first three episodes of The Chosen season 4 have been funded completely. The fourth episode is 61% funded as of now. The project has a goal of raising $3,000,000, out of which $1,841,036 has already been raised. More than 100k people have donated so far.

Fans have the option to donate as low as $15 and as high as $100k to fund the fourth season of the show. “We’ll bring our loaves and fish, you can bring yours. Together we’ll watch God feed the 5,000,” said the producers in their donation appeal.

4The release date of the upcoming season will depend on the completion of funding. If the complete amount is raised in the next few weeks, we can expect The Chosen season 4 to premiere by late this year or early next year. The season will comprise eight episodes.

The Series Centers Around the People Who Met and Followed Jesus

The show portrays the historical events of Jesus’ life and centers around the various people who met and followed him in Judaea and Galilee in the first century. The previous season featured Jesus returning to his hometown and sending his twelve apostles to preach and perform miracles about him.

“A charismatic fisherman struggling with debt. A troubled woman wrestling with demons. A gifted accountant ostracized from his family and people. In this ground-breaking first season of The Chosen see how Jesus reaches each of these and more as He works His first miracles and embarks on His ministry to change the world. See Him through the eyes of those who knew Him,” reads the official synopsis.

The Chosen has been created by Dallas Jenkins and stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus. The rest of the cast includes Shahar Isaac, Elizabeth Tabish, Noah James, Paras Patel, Judas Iscariot, Atticus Aemilius, and George H. Xanthis.

The Chosen Season 3 Finale was Released Theatrically

The seventh and eighth episodes of the third season were combined and released in cinemas on February 2nd and 3rd. The finale then premiered on The Chosen app on February 7th. Series creator Jenkins talked about his decision to launch the episodes theatrically in a recent interview.

“Because of the success of Episodes 1 and 2, because of the success of the Christmas special last year, theaters are saying we want The Chosen in our theater. The theaters are demanding it, and you (fans) are demanding it, and the episodes demand it,” he explained.
