Orphan: First Kill Filming Locations Explored

Oh, after watching the movie, we definitely need to go see where it was filmed. The plot revolves around Esther, who escapes from a psychiatric facility in Estonia and journeys to America as the missing daughter of a wealthy family.

However, an unexpected twist takes place, pitting her against a mother who will go to any length to protect her family. The movie was released in select theatres, digital, and streaming via Paramount+ on August 19, 2022, by Paramount Players. Critics gave the movie mixed reviews, praising its loose curls, special effects, and Fuhrman’s performance.

According to spectators, Isabelle Fuhrman never fails to impress, delivering an unforgettable performance as Leena/Esther. The movie added a new flavor to the Orphan film series, providing a sense of richness without losing the intensity or originality that Orphan 2009 provided.

From November to December 2020, principal photography took place in Winnipeg. The production team used makeup and compelled perspective shots to allow Fuhrman to depict Esther without the use of CGI special effects. Fuhrman’s body doubles were two young female actors. Now let’s explore the locations in detail.

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Winnipeg is the capital and largest city of the province of Manitoba in Canada. Its focal point is the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers. The city is named after Lake Winnipeg, which is located nearby; the name is derived from the Western Cree words for muddy water.

Winnipeg, also known as the “Gateway to the West,” is a railway and transportation hub with a diverse economy. The Forks, a historic site at the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, serves as its heart, with warehouses converted into shops and restaurants and plenty of green space dedicated to festivals, concerts, and exhibits.

Wellington Crescent

Wellington Crescent is a beautiful area of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is well-known for its stately homes as well as a small commercial district along Academy Road. The Albright mansion scenes were shot in a home in the wealthy Wellington Crescent.

Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport

Winnipeg International Airport, an important transportation hub for the province of Manitoba, is the province’s only commercial international airport, as the other airports of entrances only serve domestic flights and general aviation. When Julia Stiles’ character returns home with Esther, you see the airport.

Winnipeg International Airport operates daily nonstop flights to destinations throughout Canada as well as the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

Along with that, Fuhrman confirmed that talks for a third movie are ongoing between the creatives and the studio, stating that it will not be another “13 years this time around” before a sequel is developed.

Bell stated, “I feel a trilogy can tell a full story… with this story, we get to see a different side… but we still don’t know much about the years before… and Isabelle is so passionate about the character.

It’s like, you can play this character forever if you wanted to, if we can do it in this movie… there’s a lot to that character, and I think in the future stories, she would probably become a bit more cold-hearted again.”
