Meet Ahad Raza Mir: All About ‘Resident Evil’ Actor

Ahad Raza Mir is a Pakistani actor who recently made his debut in Hollywood with Netflix’s show Resident Evil. He played the role of Arjun Batra in the American action horror streaming television series.

Ahad Raza Mir was born on September 29, 1993, in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. He is the son of Asif Raza Mir, a veteran actor, and producer of the Pakistani film and television industry. His paternal grandfather was a filmmaker who also served as cinematographer for the first ever Pakistani film, Teri Yaad (1948).

Mir went to Performing Arts High School and he graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He started his career at the young age of 17 in the year 2010.

The 28-year-old kickstarted his acting career by playing a small role in  Hum TV’s romantic drama Khamosiyan. He essayed the role of the son of Sania Saeed and Faisal Rehman in the show.

Ahad began his career by performing on stage. He directed and donned the cap of a director for a couple of musicals and plays across Canada. At that time, he wanted to move to Toronto, but instead of that, he went back to his birthplace Pakistan to be a part of movies and shows.

Ahad has worked in several shows

Mir is a Pakistani actor who is best known for starring in the Urdu television series. He auditioned for Hum TV’s production house MD Productions in the year 2017, and he bagged the leading role in the show Yaqeen Ka Safar. He essayed the character of  Dr. Asfandyar Ali Khan in the series.

Ahad rose to fame with the show Yaqeen Ka Safar. He garnered a lot of love and appreciation from the end of fans. He played a grief-stricken brother as Dr. Asfand Yaar, alongside Sajal Aly and Hira Mani. He was also cast in the social drama Saami in the same year.

For his performance in Yaqeen Ka Safar, Ahad bagged Lux Style Award for Best Actor and won three Hum Awards including the Hum Award for Best Actor. During an interview, Mir gave credit for his success to producer and filmmaker Momina Duraid.

Ahad said, “Momina Duraid has followed my career closely for the longest time. I was in Canada when she called me to offer the part. The goal has been to do a film since I was very young, and so I knew that I had to pack my bags and come to Pakistan right away.”

Ahad has put out his thoughts on nepotism

Ahad comes from an influential filmmaking family, so it was very inevitable for nepotism to enter the picture. In a media interaction, the Pakistani actor spilled the beans on nepotism.

At that point, Mir talked about all the claims and he said, “People kept telling me I was a star-kid, but I spent most of my time not knowing that. I was oblivious. I wanted people to take me, as an actor, very seriously. I’m not a social media celebrity, I’m not here to become famous; I’m here to give Pakistan some good cinema and TV.”

Mir made his film debut in 2018

Ahad made his film debut with Haseeb Hassan’s military drama Parwaaz Hay Junoon, in the year 2018. He starred in the movie alongside Hamza Ali Abbasi and Hania Amir. The movie was dropped on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Mir was cast in the film as Osman Khalid Butt backed out of the project due to some professional commitments. He played the role of Flight Lieutenant Saad in the movie.

A little bit about Ahad’s personal life

Ahad Raza Mir got engaged to actress Sajal Aly on June 6, 2019. The two of them got married in the year 2020. Ahad and Sajal tied the knot in Abu Dhabi on March 14, 2020. The wedding ceremony of the superstars was indeed a star-studded affair.

In a media interaction, the Khel Khel Mein actress spilled the beans on her marriage to Ahad Raza Mir. At that point, she said, “Ahad has talked about me a lot in his past interviews but, somehow, I’m only doing it now.”

Aly went on to say, “It’s just that I rarely give interviews and I worry that, if I’ll get asked about Ahad, I’ll just end up going on and on.” She also shared more insights about their fairytale romance.

Sajal talked about the pair’s proposal story and stated that Ahad had asked for her hand in marriage on the sets of their drama Aangan. She further added, “We had just got engaged when we started working in Aangan together. He had proposed to me and I had told him that he needed to reach out to my family.”

The What’s Love Got to Do With It? actress continued, “The very next day, I had fallen ill and Ahad’s mother had come to take care of me for three days. My father had been very surprised but my sister told him that Ahad’s family were thinking of marriage.”

Aly concluded by saying, “Once I got better, Ahad’s parents came to Lahore, met my family and we got engaged. I later asked Ahad why he had been in such a hurry to get engaged. He told me that he had been afraid that, if he didn’t ask me to marry him, he would lose me, and I would marry someone else.”

The fairytale romance of Sajal and Ahad came to an end this year. The two of them officially announced their divorce in March of 2022. They have also unfollowed each other on the social media platform Instagram.
