“Boy Meets World” star Maitland Ward, who is now a successful porn star, opened up about the “dark side” of Hollywood. In her new tell-all memoir, “Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me From Hollywood”, the 45-year-old actress turned porn star has slammed Hollywood. In her version, she calls it the “dark side” of Hollywood and mentioned how switching to the porn industry saved her life.
Maitland Slams “Boy Meets World” Exes…
During the days when pop stars were being praised for wearing revealing outfits, Maitland Ward was witnessing a completely different scenario. The “Boy Meets World” star revealed the dark side of Hollywood by mentioning in her memoir, “Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me From Hollywood”, how the TGIF sitcom hindered her sexual exploration.
Maitland revealed in an interview that when she starred as Rachel McGuire in the later seasons, she was objectified on the show. Her memoir reveals several instances of what she calls the “dark side” of Hollywood. For example, at one place she mentions that she was asked to try on lingerie for the producers in their office.
She writes in Rated X, “There was something exhilarating about eyeballs fixed on my scantily clad frame, even though I wasn’t all that comfortable with my body yet.” She continues by stating that nudity was never a problem for her and when asked about her thoughts, she was comfortable with playing.
However, she writes, “What bothered me was that I could never get past the feeling that the writers were having fun at my expense and devaluing me in some way – like I was a punch line to a joke I would never be privy to.”
At one place in the memoir, she reveals how she was asked not to dress up sexy for herself, but it was okay to dress for others. She said that everyone on the show called her desperate. She also narrates an incident where someone asked her to take off bikini pictures from Instagram and told her that she wouldn’t make money like that.
In her interview, Maitland emphasised that she hopes whosoever did this to her is listening. The star concluded, “F**k Hollywood and its continued dismissal of me.” Maitland became a successful pornstar in no time and has never looked back since she joined the pornographic industry in 2019.
Porn Liberated Maitland From Hollywood…
During her interview, Maitland expressed her gratitude to her fans for listening to her. Now, she has a platform to speak up. In those days, there were no social media. Well, she looks up at things in a different way and feels that when Hollywood was unkind, the porn industry saved her.
If you don’t know this, Ward retired from mainstream acting in 2007 and joined the porn industry in 2019. However, she had started posting nudes way back in 2013 which gained her a large following in no time.
In 2016, Maitland posted her first body-painted nude for a Los Angeles Exhibition, “Living Art. In 2019, she declared that she would be performing in pornographic films. Remember “Drive”? Well, that was when she had a real breakthrough in terms of her career. Maitland has openly declared that Hollywood didn’t encourage her to become what she is today.
Some people told her that she could never be a performer or an actress.
