At the time an eyewitness told Us Weekly, “There is no denying the chemistry.” During an interaction with the media outlet two days later, Lamar said, “Khloé is smart and beautiful and that is very hard to find.”
Around the same time, the couple was clicked enjoying a romantic meal at BOA restaurant in Beverly Hills. He told Us, “I’m always excited when I’m with Khloé.”
Just a couple of days later, these two lovebirds made their romance official by walking the red carpet at the premiere of the movie White Out. Her sister Kim Kardashian also accompanied the couple at the LA premiere of the film. They decided to walk down the aisle nearly three weeks later.
Yes, you heard it right. The former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and the professional basketball player exchanged their vows in a swanky and extravagant wedding in Los Angeles.
Let’s take a stroll down the relationship lane of Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom
The NBA player and the reality star first met each other in August of 2009 at a party for Odom’s teammate Metta World Peace. Soon afterward, they sparked romance rumors. Within a short period, the pair grew very close to each other and they were almost inseparable.
A few days later, the couple was spotted out and about in public together on various occasions including movie premieres and NBA games. After being together for just three weeks, Lamar popped the big question to Khloé with a 12.5-carat ring which was worth $850,000, and she said ‘yes’.
The Good American co-founder married Lamar Odom, who was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers at the time on September 27, 2009, at Kardashian family friend Irving Azoff’s mansion. The couple got hitched exactly one month after they first met.
The two of them said their vows at a private residence in Beverly Hills with family and friends, including Ryan Seacrest, Kobe Bryant, and Brittny Gastineau, in attendance. Along with Lakers coach Phil Jackson, Odom’s teammates Luke Walton and Sasha Vujacic also attended the wedding ceremony of the pair.
The whole Kardashian clan including Kris Jenner, Bruce Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner were there for Khloé on her special day. Their wedding ceremony was a star-studded affair.
For her wedding ceremony, Khloé opted for a Vera Wang silk gown. She completed her look with a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes and a lavender sash that matched the outfits of her bridal party. Kardashian’s stepfather Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner) walked her down the aisle.
Kardashian and Odom thought of cementing their love for each other in ink and they got matching tattoos in October 2009. Tattoo artist Dirk Vanderlinden inked the newlyweds and he put a “L.O.” on Kardashian’s right hand and “K.O.” on both of Odom’s hands.
At that point, the Kocktails with Khloé star said, “Lamar and I were eating at Sunset Plaza and I just said, ‘Let’s go to Tattoo Mania! I want a tattoo!’” Getting a tattoo is a big deal but these two were madly in love with each other then and they were just happy and enjoying their married life to the fullest.
Things were just falling in place for Khloé and Lamar. The couple decided to buy a new home to kick start the new chapter of their lives. These two paid almost $4 million for a home in Mulholland Park Estates in Tarzana, California, in November 2009.
Their seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom property consisted of a spa, waterfall, steam room, and home theater, which gave the pair plenty of space to start planning for a family. During an interaction with 104.3 MY FM’s Valentine in the Morning, Khloé talked about having a family in the future and she said, “I want to so badly! That’s a goal for me.”
Despite getting married in September of 2009, these two lovebirds didn’t go on their honeymoon till June 2010. For their honeymoon, Khloé and Lamar went to Mexico. At that time, the couple stayed at the house of Girls Gone Wild owner Joe Francis. Then, a source told Perez Hilton, “They knew it would be very private and security would be tight there.”
This was the year, that Kardashian and her then-husband Odom were offered their own reality show. The reality show of the pair, Khloe & Lamar saw the light of the day on April 10, 2011. The show premiered on E! News.
The couple’s show revolved around them trying to navigate through their sex life as the duo wanted to expand their family. During an episode of the reality series, Odom said, “It’s a little weird when it comes to [scheduling] sex.” The second and the final season of the show dropped on February 19, 2012. The show ran for a total of two seasons before Khloé decided to end it in April 2012.
Right from there on, the Strong Looks Better Naked author was pretty keen on having kids with her husband. She even began getting some fertility treatments in June of 2012 from a clinic in Los Angeles.
When it looked like the pair’s relationship was going strong as ever things began to fall apart. Lamar’s issues with substance abuse entered the picture in the year 2013. This was a pretty tough year for Khloé and Lamar. Then, the air was filled with break-up rumors of the two of them but they debunked all the rumors in February.
In August of 2013, multiple sources told Us, that Odom’s addiction was resulting in a few problems in his marriage with Khloé. A close friend of the pair told the media outlet, “The addiction had taken over their marriage. The problem is cocaine. He would be high for three or four days at a time.”
The insider went on to say, “Kardashian wants to save her marriage and him. She says the things he does are because of the drugs, and she just wants him to get help.” During the same month, the basketball player was arrested by the cops for DUI.
Lamar thought of solving his addiction problems and he took his first step toward the road to recovery by getting himself admitted into a drug and alcohol rehab facility in September of 2013.
In the same month, Khloé posted a cryptic tweet on the microblogging platform Twitter. She had been mum about her problems with Lamar. Her tweet read, “As much as I wish I were made of steel…I’m not. I’m pretty damn close to it though.”
Although, the Revenge Body host and the basketball player pulled all the stops to make their marriage work but things just didn’t work in their favor and Khloé ended up filing for divorce from Odom after four years of marriage on December 13, 2013.
Back in the day, a close source told Us, “She flip-flopped several times, but she can’t imagine having kids with someone who refuses to seek help for his disease.”
It took the pair nearly two years to complete the process of divorce. As per the reports, Khloé and Lamar almost finished off their paperwork in July of 2015 and they were all set to be legally single and only the judge had to sign the papers.
Another problem arrived in the relationship of Khloé and Lamar in October 2015 when he was immediately rushed to the hospital after he was found in an unconscious state at the legal brothel Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada.
At that point, the NBA star had suffered many strokes and it was reported that he had consumed a lot of cocaine. Despite all the chaos that was going on in their personal life, Khloé went to the hospital to see Odom and she stood by his side through thick and thin.
During the same month, Kardashian and Lamar put their divorce on hold for a little bit as Odom wasn’t well at that time, he was still recovering post the life-threatening incident he had. The pair requested the court to dismiss their filing.
A source told Us, “This is a very delicate and difficult time for both Lamar and Khloé, and the most sensible thing to do at such a time does not make any big moves and put everything on hold. So that’s what she is doing.”
Nearly after three long months, Lamar got discharged from the Cedars Sinai Hospital at the start of 2016. An insider even told the media outlet that he was doing better.
Kardashian re-filed for divorce from Odom in May of 2016. She had made up her mind about ending her marriage to Lamar and filed for divorce for the second time on May 26, 2016.
Then an insider told Us Weekly, that Odom was ready to move on in his life. The source went on to say, “He is more independent now and with his friends all the time and his kids a lot. So he’s ready to move on.”
Khloé had a new man in her life. She also moved on in her life with NBA star Tristan Thompson. A source spilled the beans on her romance and told Us, “She seems more hopeful with Tristan — he’s different than the other guys she’s dated. “
At that time, the two of them were spotted out and about in public and after a month of dating, Khloé and Tristan took a romantic trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in early September. An insider told the media outlet, “She’s really into him. She’s trying to let go and have fun.”
Nearly seven years after getting married, Khloé and Lamar settled down their divorce in October of 2016. As per the legal documents obtained by TMZ, the former couple reached a property settlement and signed the legal papers that were originally filed on October 21, 2016.
A close source told Us, “They’re relieved it’s over and ready to move on with their lives.” The separation process of Kardashian and Odom got delayed due to the basketball player’s hospitalization after his near-fatal overdose at a Nevada brothel in October 2015.
Lamar paid another visit to the rehab. He again took a few precautionary measures against relapsing in December. He wanted to make sure that he was back on the right track in life.
At that time, a source told Us, “He went to continue making sure he stays sober and on the right path. It was something he chose to do.” After a few days, Lamar and Khloé’s divorce got finalized.
It seemed like the former couple stopped talking after parting ways legally. The reality TV star and her former partner didn’t engage in any sort of conversation by November of 2017. Then it was stated that the exes were no longer on talking terms but she wished him the very best for his future.
An insider told Us Weekly, “Khloé and Lamar have no communication. She’s aware that he’s off the wagon and she has known it for a long time, so it’s not a surprise to her. She wishes for the best for him.”
As per the reports, at that point Khloé was pregnant. She was expecting her first child with NBA player Tristan Thompson. She confirmed the news on the social media platform Instagram later on.
Lamar wanted to get back with Khloé in 2018. He regretted the way his and the E! star’s whirlwind romance came to an end and he was willing to win her back. At that point, it was reported that Tristan cheated on Kardashian with several women.
A source told the media outlet, “After the living hell that Khloé had to deal with while married to Lamar with the constant cheating, her sisters had wanted her to date a non-athlete.”
A source told Us, “Lamar would absolutely get back together with Khloé, and realizes he wasn’t the best person he could be while they were together. “
Khloé got in touch with the New York native in May of 2019 over a specific story that he put out in his Tell-all memoir. While making an appearance on The Jenny McCarthy Show on May 29, the NBA star said, “She sent me a text yesterday.”
Lamar went on to say, “She talked about one of the stories that I told in the book about her coming to the hotel and putting her hands on a girl. She said that she didn’t even think that I remembered that story.” Odom added that their communication was “friendly.”
In his memoir titled Darkness to Light, Lamar wrote, “I had broken my vows with Khloé so many times it’s just impossible for me to remember them all. I don’t know why Khloé stayed with me.”
Odom got a tad bit emotional when he rewatched his wedding moment from the E! series. He reminisced the good old days that he and Khloé shared when they were together. She shared the video on the social networking service Instagram.
“I’ll never forget that I got married on TV,” he said in an Instagram video in March 2021 while revisiting the old memories of the past. He further added, ” I get a little bit emotional watching it.”
“My show with my ex wife ❤️ I want to thank @krisjenner @khloekardashian @kimkardashian @robkardashianofficial @kourtneykardash for taking me in and loving me without judgement,” Odom captioned the Instagram video.
Lamar continued, “Y’all gave me family and for that I am forever grateful 🙏🏾❤️ Thanks @eentertainment for the marathon. #Thankful #Grateful #Blessed #LamarOdom #Lakers #Family #Love #Growth #Sober #Rebirth #Happy #RealityShow #Hit #FinalSeason #AmericanRoyalty.”
Lamar was still thankful for the love and support that he received from the side of The Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons star and her family throughout their marriage even though he was not in touch with the whole Kardashian Jenner clan over the last couple of years.
In a May 2021 interview on Radio Andy, Odom talked about his personal life and said, “Unfortunately, you know, due to my behavior and some bad decisions, we don’t really talk any longer.”
Lamar dropped a flirty comment on an Instagram post of his ex-wife in July 2021. Hottie 🔥🔥😍😍❤️🥰🥰,” he wrote in the comments section of Khloé’s post. In the picture, Kardashian was slaying a black bikini set.
The former NBA player participated in the reality show Celebrity Big Brother this year and he made a few statements about his former flame on the show. During his time on the show, he was seen gushing over Khloé and he had nothing but good things to say about his ex-wife. He stated he regretted how their marriage ended.
In a February 2022 episode of the CBS series, Lamar said, “I never thought about getting married again. I didn’t treat that good woman right.” He even hoped that if given a chance he would love to rectify his past mistakes and maybe get in touch with Kardashian again.
Odom continued, “I wish I was mature enough to handle [marriage] right, but I wasn’t. If given the opportunity again, now I know what to do. What to do and what not to do. Sometimes it’s hard for me to sleep at night thinking about her.”
After getting eliminated from the reality show, Lamar told Us, that he was happy to witness the positive response from the fans. He told the media outlet, “When you marry someone in 30 days, they’ll always be connected to you somehow, someway. [Khloé will] always have a place in my heart.”
The basketball player further added, “When I came out of the coma, she took care of me. I’m talking about a woman that wiped my backside when I couldn’t do it myself. So, I’m fond of her for that. She had a lot of dignity and pride as well as I did.”
Lamar threw shade at his ex-wife Khloé in June 2022
Last month, Lamar threw a little shade at his ex-wife Khloé Kardashian by comparing her to The Best of Enemies actress Taraji P. Henson. For those of you who are unaware, let us tell you he dated Taraji way back in 2009.
During an interview with Page Six, the former athlete said, “I think the difference between Taraji and Khloé is how they [were] brought up. Their upbringing, which makes people different and [affects] the way they think. I think Taraji is more skillful in what she does as an actress compared to what Khloé does.”
Odom described Kardashian as a “great wife” but he went on to say that if he was given a chance to get back with any one of his exes, it would be Henson. He concluded by saying, “I love Taraji. It’s a love thing. It’s about who you love. Taraji is a cool girl. Matter fact she’s here [in L.A.]. I got to see her at the BET Awards in June. So maybe I’ll get to shoot my shot at her again.”
