Armie Hammer Net Worth: How Much Money did the Actor Loose After Sexual Assault Scandal?

Armie Hammer used to be one of the sought-after actors in Hollywood before his career dwindled due to a series of controversies involving sexual assault and cannibalism. The actor was dropped from several films and television shows in 2021 following the scandal.

Hammer comes from a wealthy background, as his great-grandfather, Armand Hammer, was an oil tycoon. Over the years, Armie also earned a huge fortune through his acting career. However, his net worth has now significantly reduced owing to his disgrace. Read on to find out how much wealth he currently possesses.

Armie Hammer Net Worth

As per the website Celebrity Net Worth, Armie Hammer has a net worth of $100 thousand in February 2023. The amount is way too low, considering that his net worth was $10 million at the zenith of his career.

Hammer started his acting career in 2005 with guest roles on the television shows Arrested Development, Desperate Housewives, Veronica Mars, and Gossip Girl. Over the years, he earned millions of dollars with his projects. However, everything took a toll when several women accused him of sexual assault in 2021.

The reports of him being cannibalistic added to the scandal, and he was dropped by his own agency. The actor was also fired from several projects, including a film with Jennifer Lopez. The incident marked the end of his acting career, and Hammer now lives in the Cayman Islands and works as a timeshare salesman.

Family Wealth

Armie is the great-grandson of businessman Armand Hammer, who was the owner of Occidental Petroleum. At the time of his death in 1990, Armand had a net worth of $800 million which is estimated to be $1.6 billion today. After his death, Armie’s father, Michael, inherited the fortune.

However, Armand left most of his money to evangelical organizations. As per reports, only $40 million were left for the family. By 1995, the Armand Hammer Foundation was said to have only $6.5 million in assets. The organization was also embroiled in a number of lawsuits, which further diminished its wealth.

Acting Career

After brief television appearances, Hammer had a breakthrough with the 2010 film The Social Network, where he played the identical twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. In 2011, he starred as Clyde Tolson, former Associate Director of the FBI, in J. Edgar. The following year, he portrayed Prince Andrew Alcott in the Snow White tale Mirror Mirror.

In 2013, he had a lead role in The Lone Ranger and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. He then appeared in a number of films, including The Birth of a Nation, Mine, Free Fire, and Nocturnal Animals, Final Portrait, Wounds and Cars 3.

In 2017, he received global fame by starring in Call Me by Your Name alongside Timothée Chalamet. His portrayal of Oliver in the film earned him wide critical acclaim. Hammer also appeared in the films Sorry to Bother You, Hotel Mumbai and On the Basis of Sex. His latest project was Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Death on the Nile in 2022.
