Amanda Seyfried Bags First Emmy for her Role in Mini-Series ‘The Dropout’

Amanda Seyfried is an Emmy winner now! On Monday, The Dropout star won her first Emmy in the lead actress in a limited or anthology series category for her brilliant portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes in the show.

Amanda Seyfried has won her first Emmy award

At the Emmys 2022, Amanda Seyfried received her first Emmy award in the lead actress in a limited series or movie category. As per the reports in People magazine, she accepted the award from presenters Chris O’Donnell and Shemar Moore.

Other nominees in the same category were as follows: Julia Garner (Inventing Anna), Lily James (Pam & Tommy), Toni Collette (The Staircase), Sarah Paulson (Impeachment: American Crime Story), and Margaret Qualley (Maid).

What did Amanda Seyfried say in her award-winning speech?

In her acceptance speech, Amanda first referred to the feeling of winning her first Emmy as  “a really nice feeling.” She further added, “Thanks Television Academy, and thanks for recognizing me among these amazing actors.” She also thanked The Dropout creator Liz Meriweather, as well as executive producer Michael Showalter.

Amanda also talked about the time when she was filming the show and went on to say, “It was really hard but it was the best time of my life. Of course [thank you to] my agents of 16 years, Abby Bluestone, Scott, Morrie, Gary.”

She concluded her speech by saying, “And last but not least, [thank you to] my family. The Mean Girls star also gave a sweet shoutout to her two kids, with her husband Thomas Sadoski. She added, “Hi, bubs, you gotta go to bed now, but thanks! Thank you to my family, my mom, my husband my dad and my kids, and my dog, Finn, Thanks so much.”

What is Hulu’s show ‘The Dropout’ all about?

For those of you who are unversed, let us tell you Hulu’s show The Dropout is an American drama miniseries created by Elizabeth Meriwether. It is based on the podcast The Dropout hosted by Rebecca Jarvis and produced by ABC News.

The series The Dropout narrates the tale of the disgraced biotechnology company  Theranos and its founder Elizabeth Holmes. It covers the ups and downs of Elizabeth and her company Theranos. The mini-series dropped on the streaming service Hulu earlier this year in March. It has a total of 8 episodes.
