Rapper Young Thug’s sister, Angela Grier, has died. Their elder sister, Dolly White, has confirmed the news on social media. The cause of death has not been revealed yet. Grier’s age is unknown at the time; however, she was said to be older than Thug.
The news comes when Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, is in prison awaiting trial on the charges of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Continue reading to know more about the rapper’s personal loss.
Young Thug’s Sister Angela Grier Passes Away
Dolly White seemingly confirmed the death of Angela Grier by sharing a message about losing a ‘loved one’ on Instagram. She also reposted condolence messages from her friends and shared a photo of Grier with broken heart emojis on her social media feed.
The deceased is survived by her three children: Quendarious, Farderren, and Aniya Grier. Farderren was in the news last year for shooting and killing his girlfriend, Destiny Fitzpatrick. He is currently in prison.
A number of people expressed their grief at Angela’s demise. “Absent from the body, present with the lord prayers to you and your loved ones,” wrote one of Dolly White’s followers. Another commented, “My sincere condolences to u and the family. May God give u strength.” A friend also wrote, “sorry for your lost sis stay strong 💪🏾 god got u and your family.”
Angela was one of Young Thug’s Ten Siblings
Angela was one of the ten siblings of Young Thug, who were all raised by their mother. Thug, 31, is the second youngest of all the siblings. While he might be the most famous, his brothers and sisters are also trying to make a career in the industry.
Rapper Unfoonk is Thug’s elder brother. Talking about the latter’s contribution to his life, Unfoonk said in an interview, “He gave me a lot. He taught me about life. He gave me a different vision on how life is. I see things different now. He just painted a picture in my head. He just gave me so much knowledge, and I’m the older brother.”
Dolly and Dora are also famous names in the hip-hop scene. “Our mom had 11 kids, but being the two young kids, we experienced a lot of things together,” Dora, the youngest of the lot, also talked about Thug in an interview and said, “Our mom had 11 kids, but being the two young kids, we experienced a lot of things together.”
Young Thug is Currently in Prison
The rapper was arrested in Georgia in May last year, along with Gunna, for conspiring to violate the state’s RICO act. Thug was accused of founding the Young Slime Life, a street gang associated with criminal activities.
The charges of ‘preserving, protecting and enhancing the reputation, power and territory of the enterprise through acts of racketeering activity including murder, assault and threats of violence’ were pressed against the rapper, but he pleaded not guilty and is still awaiting a trial.
Thugs’ lawyer then alleged that the rapper was being detained in dungeon-like conditions, with ‘a windowless cement compartment with only a bed and a toilet and an overhead light which remains on 24 hours per day, preventing any sleep, rest or meditation.’
