WWE superstar Alexa Bliss has revealed that she was diagnosed with skin cancer on her face recently and has undergone a procedure to get the infected cells removed from her skin. The 31 year old has also announced that there is nothing to worry about as she is ‘all clear’ now.
Bliss had been missing in action for almost two months, and rumors were rife that she was on a hiatus from the company. With the revelation, the professional wrestler has put the rumors to rest.
Alexa Bliss Undergoes Treatment after Skin Cancer Diagnosis
On Tuesday, Bliss shared a story on Instagram, which showed the left side of her face covered in bandages. “Dear younger me, You should have stayed out of tanning beds. All clear now though! Thank you American Skin Institute for taking great care of me!” she captioned the picture.
However, she did not divulge any further details of her condition. A day later, she took to Twitter, announcing that there was a spot on her face that turned into basal cell carcinoma (BCC), which is the most common form of skin cancer.
As per Skin Care Foundation (SCF), around 3.6 million people are diagnosed with the condition every year. BCC often occurs due to over-exposure to UV rays from the sun or tanning beds. It is curable if it gets detected and treated early and is rarely fatal, says SCF.
‘Always get your skin checked,’ Says the Wrestler
Bliss took to Twitter on March 22 to share further details of her diagnosis and treatment. “There was a spot on my face yes- that had gotten worse. So went to get biopsy. Was basal cell carcinoma. During my procedure doc also found other squamous cells. Was a quick and easy procedure. Glad I always get my skin checked,” she wrote.

The three-time Raw Women’s Champion also told fans that she is healing and will be back soon. “Thank you! Don’t worry, short healing time. Always get your skin checked! Esp if you are in the sun or use tanning beds! Lol,” Bliss tweeted.
Fans then had a sigh of relief and replied to the wrestler, “So glad you got it checked out and are feeling good and healthy see you soon champ.” Another wrote, “Glad you’re ok dear @AlexaBliss_WWE we miss you so much. Stay strong. I know you will. Get back soon. WWE Women’s titles are awaiting for you.”
Alexa Bliss Remained Absent from WWE for Two Months
Bliss’ last appearance in the WWE was at the Royal Rumble in January this year, when she lost to Bianca Belair, the current Raw Women’s Champion. Ever since, she has remained absent from the ring, leaving fans worried. Many then speculated that the wrestler was taking a break from WWE.
On March 10, Bliss cleared the air by tweeting, “Tired of seeing these tweets. I am not on a hiatus. They know where to find me.” Now with the skin treatment, it remains unlikely that she will participate in WrestleMania 39, which is set to take place in Inglewood, California, on April 1 and 2.
We wish Alexa Bliss a speedy recovery and hope to see her back in the ring soon!
