Wrestling legend Terry Funk passes away at 79
Terry Funk, WWE legend and pioneer has left for the heavenly abode. At the time of his death, he was 79 years old. It has been reported by CBS News, that his manager Timothy Beal announced the tragic news of his death.
As of this moment, the exact cause behind Terry’s demise is unknown. However, his manager Timothy stated that he “was in bad health for some time” and was “in a nursing home.” Funk is survived by his two daughters, Stacy and Brandee.
Who was Terry Funk?
Terry Funk was an iconic WWE figure who was born in Amarillo, Texas. Wrestling was in his genes as his father, Dory Funk, Sr., was also a professional wrestler. According to his WWE biography, he kicked off his wrestling career as a tag-team wrestler with his brother Dory Funk, Jr.
Funk rose to prominence in the 1980s when he and his brother appeared at WrestleMania 2. Throughout his 50-year career, he won many championships. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009. Keeping aside his wrestling career, he was also an actor and performer.

Soon after the news of Terry Funk’s passing came out, many stars from the wrestling community came forward to share their heartfelt tributes to the WWE champion Terry Funk.
Mick Foley tweeted, “Terry Funk is gone. I just talked to Terry’s daughter, Brandee, who gave me the awful news. He was my mentor, my idol, one of the closest friends. He was the greatest wrestler I ever saw.”
He continued, “If you get the chance, look up a Terry Funk match or a Terry Funk promo, and give thanks that this incredible man gave so much, for so long, to so many. There will never be another like him. May God bless Terry, his friends, family and all who loved him. RIP my dear friend – it was an honor to know you. #RIPTerryFunk”
