Sonia Pizarro, known for her starring role in Operation Repo, has passed away. She was 60. The reality star died in her sleep on Wednesday night at her home in Arizona. Pizarro’s niece, Lyndah Pizarro, confirmed the news.
The cause of her death has not been announced yet. The reality star appeared in truTV’s Operation Repo from 2006 to 2014. She also acted in a couple of films. Read on to know everything about her life and career.
Sonia Pizarro Dies at 60
Lyndah Pizarro, who herself appeared in Operation Repo for six years, announced her aunt, Sonia Pizarro’s death on Thursday. The reality star is survived by her three children: Ruby, Robert, and Froylan Jr., and three grandchildren: Bryant, Brie, and Danica.
Sonia’s ex-husband and co-star, Froylan Tercero, remembered her as ‘a bad ass chick that kicked some serious ass.’ Mourning her death, he said, “She will always have a place in my heart and on my body since I still have her name tattooed on my stomach, Sonia we love you and I will honor you with all the good mementos you gave me, thank you and I love you.”
Pizarro was Facing Health Complications for the Past Few Years
Pizarro was battling health complications for the past few years. She suffered a stroke in 2018 and was hospitalized afterward. The illness severely affected her ability to speak and basic motor functions. However, these health complications are not said to be the cause of her death, Lyndah revealed.
A number of social media users have now paid condolences to the late reality star. “May she rest in peace 🕊️. I enjoyed watching her on the show. ❤️,” wrote a fan. Another tweeted, “My most heartfelt condolences to her family. Thoughts and prayers are with them all. Much love from me,” tweeted another.
“I remember watching her in the show. did not agree with most of her opinion but still was fun seeing her. heard the name again after all these years and was surprised to see that she has passed away. May she RIP. Condolences to her family,” penned a fan.
The Reality Star Appeared on Operation Repo for Eight Years
Pizarro began her television journey with Operation Repo in 2006. The show followed ‘a team of highly-trained professionals from California’s San Fernando Valley as they repossess cars, no matter how angry the owners may get.’ The series featured reenactments of real repossession incidents.
A number of members of Sonia’s family appeared in the show, including Lyndah, Froylan, Luis ‘Lou’ Pizarro, and Roberto ‘Rob’ Pizarro. The rest of the cast included Matt Burch, Carlos Lopez, Ronnie Lee, Vanessa Gomez, Ashley Burch, Mike, and Frankie.
The series went on till 2014, and Sonia continued with it till the end, appearing in most of the episodes. In 2009, she starred in the film Repo Chick. She also had a role in the 2018 flick Followed. In 2016, Sonia appeared in Operation Repo’s spin-off movie titled Lou’s Revenge.
