Not long ago, MoneySign Suede was found murdered at a local prison in California. He was killed in a shower on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. At the time of his death, he was only 22 years old.

His attorney Nicholas Rosenberg announced his passing. The lawyer of the rapper, Nicholas Rosenberg expressed his grief by writing, “People are very shocked… He was a very popular guy, very mild-mannered. People loved him.”

Rosenberg even spilled the beans on the rapper’s untimely death and he went on to say, “They said it was a stabbing to the neck. They said they’re investigating.” He mentioned that this wasn’t the first time that the musician was attacked in the prison.

At the time of the unfortunate incident, the Back to the Bag rapper was being held at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad. He was serving a 32-month sentence in jail for two gun-related charges.

The officials who were present with the Monterey County coroner’s office and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation have stated that they found the aspiring rapper dead around 10 p.m. after he was reported missing during a regular count.

According to various media outlets, the injuries suffered by Jaime Brugada during the  incident were “consistent with a homicide.”

The real name of the Los Angeles rapper MoneySign Suede was Jaime Brugada Valdez. The popular rapper was born in South Central LA to Mexican parents. As per Los Angeles Times, he was originally from Huntington Park. While growing up, he was very passionate about sports.

Later on down the lane, MoneySign even played sports such as skateboarding and boxing. It has been reported by AllMusic, that he attended his first ever rap show (MadeinTYO’s at the Nove), at the young age of 16, which inspired him to pursue a music career. He shot to fame due to his music soon after turning 18 years old.

In the year 2020, Valdez dropped his song Back to the Bag, nearly 2 months after starting his jail sentence. While he was in prison, the track crossed a million views. It received a good response from viewers as well as the fans. He signed with Atlantic Records in 2021 and released his latest album named Parkside Baby last September.

On Wednesday, the family of the rapper put out a message on his official Instagram page that stated that they have not set up a GoFundMe page for MoneySign Suede. The statement read, “we appreciate the condolences, our family has not set a gofundme, don’t fall for any scams, thank you!”

As soon as the news of MoneySign Suede’s homicide popped up on the internet, people were shocked and heartbroken. Since then, many fans have paid heartfelt tributes to the Mexican American rapper.

A portion of people even described the rapper as “the next big thing,” and praised him for shedding some light on themes of struggle, trauma, and aspirations. Some users even talked about how he opened several doors for young Hispanics.

One social media user wrote, “Rest easy kid ,I pray for your during your transition. May God place his arms around you and guide you along the way. HP will never forget you!” Another fan added, “Thx for showing me that a Mexican could make it big in the music industry.”
