Who is Robert “Bobby” Crimo III as Suspect Taken into Custody for July 4th Shooting

Robert “Bobby” Crimo III has been taken into custody by the Highland Illinois Police Department as he remains a person of interest following the Highland Park parade shootings that took place today, July 4th, 2022. At least six people died and around 36 were injured in the incident. Read on to learn about the boy behind this massacre.

Who is Robert “Bobby” Crimo III?

Robert “Bobby” Crimo III is the 22-year-old son of Bob Crimo, the president of Bob’s Pantry & Deli in the same area of Highland Park. A Facebook post also suggests that Bob ran for president back in 2020. Besides this, Robert is an amateur rapper who posted disturbing videos on his YouTube channel, including a crude animation depicting a gunman being killed by police.

Robert uses the pseudonym “Awake the Rapper” and the topic of his messages is extremely disturbing. As for the music he creates, the lyrics have an aggressive and suggestive connotation. For instance, one of his raps goes like this: “Like a sleepwalker, I am unable to stop and think. My actions will be valiant and my thought is unnecessary. I know what I have to do, I know what’s in it, not only for me but for everyone else.”

He raps further, “There is no past or future, just the now. It is more abstract than I can ever imagine. I can feel the atmosphere pushing me in. It’s unstoppable, like a wave pulling me under, I can’t breathe without it.”

In addition to videos filled with violent imagery and mass-shooting fantasy, last year, Robert “Bobby” Crimo also posted a video on his personal blog of Central Avenue in Highland Park—the main street of the parade route.

The Deadly Attack On July 4th…

Robert, who was taken into custody about seven hours after a sniper attack left six dead and dozens more injured, went by the name of Awake the Rapper on social media. He is a person of interest in the deadly attack on a Chicago-area July 4th celebration that killed six people and left 38 people injured.

It was reported that a shooter fired from a rooftop into the crowd around 10 a.m. The authorities also recovered a rifle from the scene. However, the television news video revealed a silver Honda Fit – which authorities said Crimo was driving – stopped at an intersection, doors open. Police had said Crimo was likely armed and dangerous.

He fits into the profile of the shooter who is responsible for this deadly attack. From facial tattoos to the multiple videos of violent images, the authorities have every reason to believe that Robert is behind the attack. ake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covell revealed after his arrest:

“This individual is believed to have been responsible for what happened.” Covelli said a “significant amount of digital evidence” helped lead investigators to Crimo. Well, authorities spent hours Monday (July 4) searching for Robert and were able to take him into custody shortly before 7 p.m. local time following a short pursuit about five miles away from the shooting. No charges were announced.

A North Chicago police officer spotted and briefly chased Crimo in nearby Lake Forest and “the subject was taken into custody without incident,” Highland Park police Chief Lou Jogmen said: “This doesn’t necessarily mean this is over but we are certainly encouraged that we have a person of interest.”

Mass shootings have become a weekly tradition in America. Instead of addressing the grave situation, the United States is more inclined toward curbing women’s rights to abortion, well they already have. As for Robert, he is currently in custody and is being interrogated. The story is developing…
