Do Black Lives Really Matter?
There is an ongoing outrage about what happened in Kansas City, Missouri on Friday night! Police officials allegedly shot an unarmed, pregnant woman five times as she tried to flee her arrest from a suspected armed carjacking. The Kansas police officials have denied initial reports yesterday that she had been unarmed and pregnant.
However, an eyewitness identified as Shédanja, who had gone to the store with her three children shed light on the incident. She revealed that officers opened fire on a woman who allegedly posed no threat.
Shédanja said she saw the shooting happen as police shot 26-year-old Leonna Hale near the south side of the city at a Family Dollar parking lot. She said, “And I say oh my God they shot her oh. My God and I were like what I’m gonna do, like get my phone.”
She also revealed that the woman was unarmed and was moving around at least a 180 to say I am not a threat to you. Shédanja added, “She did not pull out a weapon on them,” Shédanja insisted to The Star. “She did not even have a stick in her hand.”
KCPD said they were called to the area to follow up on a carjacking after reports of two suspects, a man and a woman, stealing a car at gunpoint. Police pulled up to the reportedly stolen maroon Chrysler to talk to the woman in the passenger seat.
Police Defends Itself…
The Kansas police officers stated an entirely different story. They said that had spotted a vehicle matching the description of a stolen vehicle at the Family Dollar at Prospect and East 6th Avenues shortly before 8 p.m. on Friday.
As officers attempted to make contact with the vehicle’s occupants, a man exited the vehicle, fled on foot and was apprehended, the MSHP said. He was not identified. The highway patrol said Hale exited the vehicle and fled into the store’s parking lot. “Two officers fired shots,” MSHP added.
How many people have to die before y'all realize police can't be reformed?

In the end, Leonna Hale, 26, was filmed laying in a pool of blood Friday night after being shot in Kansas City by officers responding to reports of an armed carjacking. A suspect handgun was recovered from the scene. Hale was seriously injured & her condition is stable. No other injuries.
She’d have been safer if, instead of being unarmed and pregnant, she were armed in a school shooting children. https://t.co/mKP885lvZ1

As per the eyewitness, the police shot her multiple times and still put handcuffs on her. Moreover, it came out that the pregnant black woman was not even armed and did not pose a real threat to anyone.
KCPD’s interim police chief Joseph Mabin, however, said the department would be “100 per cent transparent,” The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.
Hale may be alive but does that justify the police’s actions? Was she shot multiple times just because she was a black woman? The answer lies in our consciousness. The Kansas City Police Department is under fire for the said incident. What do you think?
