Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have called it quits. The two actors have decided to part ways after 17 years of marriage, McDermott announced on social media on June 17th. The couple tied the knot in 2006 and went on to become parents to five children.
Spelling and McDermott’s marriage went through a rocky phase when the latter admitted to cheating on his wife in 2014. However, the two decided to rebuild their relationship at the time and continued to be together.

McDermott, 56, shared the news with a statement on Instagram on Saturday. He wrote, “It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own.”
“We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time. We ask that you all respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work our way through this. Thank you all for your support and kindness,” he added.
However, he later deleted the post for reasons unknown. The couple will now be co-parenting their five children: 16-year-old son Liam, 15-year-old daughter Stella, 11-year-old daughter Hattie, 10-year-old son Finn and 6-year-old son Beau.
The Couple’s Divorce Rumors Had Been Rife Since 2021
While fans are shocked by the couple going their separate ways, rumors were already floating around about the trouble in their marriage for quite some time. In 2021, a source close to the two had revealed, “Tori and Dean have been having major issues for over a year now.”
In October of the same year, Tori was seen in an emotional state outside her attorney’s office. A few days later, Dean did not appear in the 2021 family holiday card posted by Tori on Instagram. However, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum explained that her husband was filming in Canada at the time, and hence could not make it to the picture.
Dean Admitted to Cheating on Tori in 2014
Tori and Dean first met on the sets of their film Mind Over Murder in July 2005. Both of them were married to different people at the time, but they fell for each other and soon divorced their respective partners. The two tied the knot in a private ceremony in Fiji in May 2006.
Things went smoothly for a while and the couple also starred in their own reality show Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood for six years. In 2014, their marriage went through a tough phase when Dean admitted to cheating on his wife and the two had a fallout on their Lifetime docuseries True Tori.
The couple eventually decided to move on from the cheating scandal. In 2019, Dean revealed that the incident only made their relationship stronger. “Our relationship now is better than ever. Aside from being my wife and loving me, she is my biggest fan and my biggest supporter,” he said in an interview.
