The Organizers are Cutting Down on Additional Activities to Spend More on Artists
The fest has announced that there will be no fireworks, 5K race, art show, and south stage this year to increase expenditure on performing artists. Announcing the move, executive director Paul Jamieson said, “Fan satisfaction ratings last year were the highest we have ever seen in SunFest history.”
“We heard loud and clear that fans come to the waterfront to hear good music and reunite with old friends. In response, we’re maximizing our entertainment budget by putting the art show, south stage, fireworks and 5K race on hold for 2023. We are spending 15% more than last year on talent with fewer headline acts,” he added.
The 2023 edition is also being held across three days instead of the traditional four-day schedule. Organizers have cited an increase in security, booking, and insurance costs as the reason behind the move.
Tickets for the Festival are on Sale Now
Tickets for the event are now available at its official website. Organizers have revealed that the passes are currently priced at their lowest and will eventually become more expensive as the festival dates approach. As of now, 1-day passes are priced at $70, and 3-day passes are being sold at $130.
Tickets are free for children below 5 years of age. Organizers are offering a reduced price for those between 6 and 12 years. The general tickets have been kept at the same price as the 2022 gate price.
“When fans purchase a 1-day ticket, they will need to select the day that they plan to attend. Since tickets are day-specific, whichever day is selected, that is the only day the ticket will be good for. SunFest 3-day tickets are available for $130. Tickets are limited and prices are set to increase the closer we get to the event,” says the official website.
