Bob McGrath was an American actor, singer, and musician who was born on June 13, 1932, in Ottawa, Illinois. Back in the day, he went to the University of Michigan to study music, and soon after, he attended the Manhattan School of Music.
McGrath was best known for playing the original human character Bob Johnson in the TV series Sesame Street. He was first seen in the series pilot in the year 1969. He essayed the role of Bob Johnson, the friendly neighbor. He was a part of the show Sesame Street for more than five decades, and 47 seasons of broadcast television.
Bob made his final appearance in the series way back in 2017 but he didn’t cut his ties with the series after that. He continued to make public appearances at various events associated with Sesame Street.
McGrath is survived by his wife Ann Logan Sperry whom he married in the year 1958, his five children, and eight grandchildren.
