Saliva guitarist Wayne Swinny died after suffering a brain hemorrhage
The famed band Saliva was out and about on tour and all set to take over the stage in Pittsburgh on Tuesday when Wayne was found in medical distress and then, he was rushed to a local hospital.
After reaching the hospital, Wayne was diagnosed with what the band called a “spontaneous hemorrhage in his brain.” Then, he was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. On Wednesday afternoon, the band gave a second update to their fans all over the world and revealed that Swinny had passed away.
On Wednesday, the rock band Saliva shared the sad news of Wayne Swinny’s death on the social networking platform Facebook. Swinny died of a brain hemorrhage. At the time of his death, he was 59 years old. The band shared a black and white photo of Swinny on their official Facebook page.
The band’s announcement read, “It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our brother Wayne Swinny. Wayne passed away this afternoon from a Spontaneous brain hemorrhage while we were out on tour.”
The statement further read, “Details for the funeral arrangements will be announced shortly. Wayne will be missed by all those who knew him. ” They concluded the statement by writing, “We love you, Wayne.”
According to Loudwire, Wayne was the only remaining member from the band’s original lineup after vocalist Josey Scott left the group in the year 2011 and bassist Dave Novotny bid adieu to the band in 2015. Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Eddie Van Halen were some of the musical inspirations of Swinny.
When was the band Saliva formed?
For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Saliva is a rock band that was formed in Memphis, Tennessee in the year 1996. It consisted of Wayne Swinny, singer Josey Scott, guitarist Chris Dabaldo, bassist Dave Novotny and drummer Paul Crosby.
The rock band dropped their self-titled debut album in 1997 through Rockingchair Records. Soon after, they went on to release their second album titled Every Six Seconds. Their third album Back into Your System saw the light of day in 2002. In the same year, the band was nominated for a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance for their song Your Disease.
Nearly 3 years later, Saliva dropped their fourth studio album Survival of the Sickest. Their fifth studio album Blood Stained Love Story was released in the year 2007. Their sixth album Cinco Diablo and their seventh album Under Your Skin came out in 2008 and 2011 respectively.
The rock band’s eighth studio album named In It To Win It arrived in the year 2013. Their ninth album Rise Up was released a year later. Their tenth album Love, Lies & Therapy which included songs like Tragic Kind of Love and Go Big or Go Home came out in 2016. Their latest album 10 Lives dropped in 2018.

Tributes pour in for Wayne Swinny
Former band member Josey Scott took to his Instagram profile to pay a heartfelt tribute to Wayne. On Wednesday, he posted a beautiful picture of himself and Swinny on his Instagram feed.
Scott started by writing, “I have no words. Just the love, and the little moments, and the looks that we shared, just between us and the fans, on stage, after stage, all over the world, that no one will ever know.”
Josey further added, “Playing music, and writing music with a man like Wayne Swinny, for as long as we did, like we did, in all those places we did, is so very intimate. It was a love we shared together, and I will go into eternity holding on to that love, and those memories. Forever #TheToxicTwins.”
Bobby Amaru who joined the rock band in the year 2011 after Scott’s departure also mourned the loss of his band member Wayne Swinny. He issued a statement after the news of Wayne’s demise was made public.
Amaru said, “I’m not even sure what to think or how to feel right now. My heart aches for Wayne’s family, his friends, and anyone who had the joy of being around him. My heart aches for his daughter Nikki. He loved that little girl so much.”
The vocalist further added, “He was a Guitar Hero onstage with all the Rock ‘N’ Roll swag that most guitar players dream of. Offstage he was a proud father, an Ancient Aliens expert, and an incredible human who had zero enemies! He would go out of his way to make sure you had a good time.”
Bobby went on to say, “I’m grateful that I got to share almost 12 years of my life with Wayne on the stage and, most importantly, off the stage. He was the older brother I never had. I learned so much from him, and we had a f–king blast together! I will cherish it all for the rest of my life! God Bless you, Wayne. I know we’ll meet again!”
