S Club 7 Member Paul Cattermole Dies at 46, Fans Pay Tribute to British Singer

Paul Cattermole, well-known by the fans as a member of the British pop group S Club 7 formed by Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller has died. He passed away at the age of 46 at his home in Dorset, southwest England, on April 6, 2023.

On April 7, 2023, Friday, the renowned pop band shared the heartbreaking news of Paul Cattermole’s demise on the micro-blogging platform Twitter. At the time of his passing, Paul was 46 years old.

In a statement issued on social media, the band said, “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.”

They went on to say, “He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”

As per his family’s statement, Paul was found dead at his home in Dorset on April 6, 2023, Thursday and he was pronounced dead later that afternoon. It has been confirmed by Dorset Police that there were no suspicious circumstances. As of this moment, the exact cause behind the death of Paul has not been revealed publicly.

According to Yahoo! News, Paul’s family also put out a statement to confirm the passing of the musician. The statement reads, “It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.”

The statement further reads, “Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon. While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends, and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time.”

When was the band S Club 7 formed?

For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, the British band S Club 7 was created in the year 1998. Along with Paul, the other members of the band included Rachel Stevens, Hannah Spearritt, Bradley McIntosh, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, and Jo O’Meara.

The band rose to prominence the next year in the BBC One series Miami 7, which revolved around the lives of the band members after they shifted to Miami. In addition to this, there was also a show called S Club 7 in Miami, which aired in the U.S. on Fox Family and later on ABC Family. The band was a big success between the years 1998 to 2003 when they eventually split.

Over the years, they recorded four studio albums, dropped 11 singles, and went on to sell over 10 million albums all over the world and they even tasted global success when their song Never Had a Dream Come True got a spot on the US Hot 100 chart.

Earlier this year, in February, the band announced that they would reunite for a 25th anniversary tour. They would kick off their tour in Liverpool in October.

When did Paul Cattermole leave the group S Club 7?

Paul bid adieu to the group S Club 7 in the year 2002 after struggling to cope up with the pressures put on them as a group. In an earlier interview with The Guardian, he said, “It had got to the point where things were being handled so badly, I had to go.”

At that point in time, Cattermole was dating his bandmate, Hannah. The pair managed to keep their romance under the wraps for nearly 6 months before making their relationship official in 2001. The couple called it quits in 2006.

I grew up listening to S Club 7 and you guys were such a big part of my childhood. RIP Paul. You are already so greatly missed ❤️.”

Followed by a third user who penned, “Rest in peace Paul, thanks for been a part of bringing joy and music into my childhood, thoughts to all those close to him including the band ❤️.”

Another user chimed in, “I feel sick, Paul was and will always be someone that gave me so much joy. I was lucky enough to meet him at a time in my life when all I needed was a hug. He gave me a hug and didn’t let go until I did. He gave so effortlessly. I’m heartbroken. I’m so sorry. Love you all.”

A social media user tweeted, “So very sorry to hear this news, my prayers are with his family, the band and everyone that loved him. May he rest in peace.” A tweet read, “@sclub7 has been apart of my life longer than most people that are in my life currently. i’ve always, and still consider each human in this amazing group a best friend in my life.”

In a separate tweet, the user further added, “waking up to this news was gut wrenching. i haven’t been able to stop crying since. as an american fan for 25 years, i’ve never got a chance to meet paul and tell him thank you.”
