Vladimir Putin, President of Russia might go through cancer surgery very soon. He may also hand over the power to hardline Security Council head and ex-FSB commander Nikolai Patrushev to manage the Russia-Ukraine war in his absence for a few days according to a British media report.
Putin will transfer the entire control of Russia’s government to Patrushev during and after the procedure as per a video surfaced on a mysterious Telegram channel named “General SVR” on 30th April.
Putin has been delaying the surgery for quite some time, however, it is expected to happen just before the Victory Day commemoration of Russia’s World War II win in Red Square on 9th May. Doctors have advised him to undergo the operation as soon as possible.
Putin may temporarily give the power to Patrushev amid the Russia-Ukraine war
This unconfirmed news comes has come at a time when there are rumors making rounds in the media that Putin is all set to launch an all-out war across Ukraine and ordered a mass mobilization of military-age men.
The Telegram channel is managed by a former Russian Foreign Intelligence Service lieutenant general, Viktor Mikhailovich. “Putin is unlikely to agree to hand over power for a longer period of time,” said, the narrator of the video.
The narrator adds, “I will say that this is the worst option. Patrushev is an outright villain. He is no better than Vladimir Putin. Moreover, he is a more cunning, and I would say, more insidious person than Vladimir Putin.
If he comes to power, Russians’ problems will only multiply. Viktor Mikhailovich” ominously hinted that he and his allies “will make certain efforts so this does not happen, and I hope we will succeed.”
Putin’s health issues
Russian investigative outlet The Project has also claimed that Putin visited a cancer doctor more than 35 times in recent years. He is very much concerned about his health and even is open to alternate unconventional, and barbaric, therapies to get himself treated as per the media report.
In the last four years, Evgeny Selivanov, an oncologist has paid secret visits to the 70-year-old Russian President’s getaway home.
There have been rumors that Putin is not only suffering from cancer but also other illness like Parkinson’s disease. He appears to be sick and his behavior in public in the recent past has raised several questions pertaining to his well-being.
Putin’s health issues come at a very inopportune moment as the war in Ukraine has now entered into its fourth month and Russia has suffered a massive blow on the battlefield. In the Telegram post, it was alleged that Patrushev had a two-hour meeting with Putin.
The post claimed, “We know that Putin signaled to Patrushev that he considers him to be practically his only trusted ally and friend in the government. Additionally, the president promised that if his health takes a turn for the worse, actual control of the country will temporarily pass into Patrushev’s hands.”
Last month, Putin was seen holding the desk very firmly during his meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu which triggered speculation over his health condition.
