Ring of Honor Pro Wrestler Jay Briscoe Dies at 38, Know the Cause of his Death

Professional wrestler Jay Briscoe has left for the heavenly abode. Sadly, the Ring of Honor veteran has unexpectedly died. He passed away at the age of 38 and we must say, he has left behind an unforgettable legacy.

The unfortunate news of Briscoe’s death was announced by AEW President Tony Khan on the social media platform Twitter. Read on to know the cause behind the demise of the wrestler.

What was the reason behind the death of Jay Briscoe?

Unfortunately, the ROH star Jay Briscoe whose real name is Jamin Pugh has passed away at the age of 38 in a car accident. He was a longtime fixture in Ring of Honor. The news of his death was confirmed by AEW founder Tony Khan who purchased Ring of Honor last March.

AEW President Tony Khan took to his Twitter page and wrote, “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today.”

Tony went on to say, “Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin”

According to a report by New York Post, pro wrestling reporter Dave Meltzer has disclosed that Briscoe was one of the two people who died in a car accident that took place in Laurel, Delaware.

The Briscoes have been part of Ring of Honor since the year 2002. For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Jay Briscoe had also been their world champion twice as a singles competitor.

How did the pro wrestlers react to the demise of Jay Briscoe?

As soon as the news of Jay Briscoe’s death broke out, many wrestlers came forward to pay tributes to the Ring of Honor star on various social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram.

Cody Rhodes tweeted, “I didn’t interact much with him, but upon meeting Jay I instantly understood something about him…his family was his everything. All the love in the world to them this evening.”

Cash Wheeler also expressed his thoughts on the untimely death of Jay Briscoe on Twitter. He wrote, “I’ve been in tears since I heard the news. I just don’t have the words. Rest in Peace Jay.”

Pro wrestler Danhausen penned, “One of the top highlights of my short ROH run and career was being able to not only work with the Briscoes, but having the absolute privilege to wrestle Mark and Jay. One of the best wrestlers to ever do it and always so nice and helpful to everyone. Rest in peace.”

AEW’s Christopher Daniels added, “Jay Briscoe was one of the toughest men I ever had the privilege of sharing a ring with, as well as being a tremendous brother, father, and man. I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to know him and wrestle him as often as I did. Rest in Peace, Jay, I love you.”
