According to the press release shared by the Los Angeles Police Department on Tuesday, its Olympic division got “numerous radio calls of shots fired, with a man screaming, in the 700 block of South New Hampshire Avenue” around 11:30 p.m. local time.
When the cops pulled up to the scene, they found a man who had been shot several times in front of an apartment building. Soon afterward, the parademics declared the victim dead at the scene.
The police believes that the suspect who killed Half Ounce was in a dark colored SUV. It has been stated that the suspect was a black man who was wearing dark clothing. The L.A. County Coroner’s Office has told People magazine, that the victim shot was the 32-year-old rapper Half Ounce.

The police sources have told L.A.’s Fox 11 that Half Ounce was shot while he was walking down the street with a friend. At that time, an SUV pulled up and approached them and the person in the passenger seat of the car fired multiple shots at Ounce and his friend.
It has been reported by the media outlet, that the friend who was with Half Ounce rushed away from the scene. Right now, the police is trying to find out who the friend is.
The cops have also stated that Ounce was talking to his wife on the phone who is pregnant and expecting their fourth child, when the SUV approached him and his friend. As per Fox 11, his wife heard the shots and she immediately ran to the scene.
Half Ounce and his wife share a daughter who is 8 years old and two sons, who are 2 and 9 months respectively. The relatives of the rapper have told NBC4, that his fourth child is due in March next year.
Police is trying to find out more details about the case
LAPD Lieutenant John Radtke went on to say that the police authorities are investigating the case and they are going through the security footage and surveillance video captured by the cameras of the nearby homes and doing their best to find out what were Half Ounce and his friend were doing in the area when seven to thirty shots were fired at them.
Half Ounce has nearly 15k followers on Instagram. His last Instagram post was a promotion for his forthcoming song Drop The Ball. The song was set to release on October 14, 2022.
