Queen’s Platinum Jubilee: Prince Andrew, Prince Harry and Meghan Banned from Buckingham Palace Balcony

Finally, one of the much-awaited questions has been answered by the Buckingham Palace on Friday related to Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations scheduled for next month.

It is now official that Prince Harry, Meghan, and Prince Andrew will not be present on the Buckingham Palace balcony when the Queen greets the public during the opening celebrations.

The celebrations will be held in the month of June to mark British Monarch Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne and service to the citizens of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

Emily Nash, Royal Editor at HELLO! tweeted, “BREAKING: No Prince Andrew, Prince Harry or Meghan on the balcony this year. The Queen has decided “after careful consideration” that only family members who carry out official work on her behalf will join her on the balcony at Trooping the Colour on June 2.”

The monarch is expected to be accompanied by “members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen”, on the 2nd of June according to a palace source.

The 96-year-old Queen is expected to attend a few events and might skip a few Jubilee events as she has mobility problems. However, there is no official confirmation yet on this.

Speculation was rife in the media circles about this most awaited event about who all will be present in the iconic royal balcony scene on that day to celebrate the Queen’s 70-year reign.

Even if the Royal couple, Prince Harry and Meghan, return to the UK for the jubilee weekend they will not be present on the balcony waving to the crowds. Prince Andrew is also excluded from the family group as he has recently stepped down from royal duties.

However, Prince Harry and Prince Andrew and their families are not ruled out at events like the thanksgiving service or Jubilee lunches.

“Harry’s presence on British soil is not welcomed by his brother. Last time Harry came to the U.K., William managed to be in the Alps. These things don’t happen by accident. William is sick of the sight and sound of his kid brother. He doesn’t want him there”, one source privy to the matter said.

Who all are expected to be present on the Palace balcony?

On 2nd June, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and their kids along with the Queen are expected to be present on the balcony.

It will also include the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their kids and Princess Royal and her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.

The royal family tweeted on 6th May stating, “The Gold State Coach will lead the @Jubilee_Pageant on the final day of the #PlatinumJubilee central weekend in June. Bringing to life iconic moments from The Queen’s reign, the Pageant is just one way to celebrate over this historic event.

Queen’s Health Issues

The Queen has recently canceled a few events because of her health issues, so there are concerns about how much she will be able to make it during the four-day Platinum Jubilee celebrations scheduled to happen from 2nd to 5th June.

The Queen is also scheduled to participate in the Epsom Derby, which will happen on the 4th of June.
