A new addition to the royal family! Princess Eugenie has welcomed her second child with her husband Jack Brooksbank. The niece of King Charles gave birth to a baby boy on May 30th, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday.
Princess Eugenie, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, also shared the first pictures of her little munchkin on Instagram and revealed his name. The princess and Brooksbank are already parents to a two-year-old son, August Philip Hawke.
Princess Eugenie Welcomes Second Child With Husband Jack Brooksbank
Buckingham Palace released a statement on Monday to announce the arrival of the new member of the royal family. The baby’s name was also revealed as ‘Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank’. The statement read, “Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank.”
“Ernest was born on Tuesday, 30th May, and weighed 7lbs 1oz,” it read further. Princess Eugenie then took to Instagram to post adorable photos of the newborn and wrote, “Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on 30th May 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1lbs.”
“He is named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald. Augie is loving being a big brother already,” she added. A number of celebrities and followers congratulated the couple with their comments.
Princess Eugenie Announced Pregnancy in January
The princess announced her second pregnancy in January this year with a post on social media. “We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer,” she captioned a picture of August kissing her belly.
At the time, Buckingham Palace stated, “Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are pleased to announce they are expecting their second child this summer. The family are delighted and August is very much looking forward to being a big brother.”
Princess Eugenie, 33, and Jack Brooksbank, 37, first met in Switzerland in 2010. The couple got engaged in 2017 and tied the knot in October 2018 in a royal wedding in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. They welcomed their first son August in February 2021.
The Newborn is 13th in the Line of Succession to the Throne
With his birth, Ernest George has become the 13th person in the line of succession to the British throne. He is the third grandchild of the Duke and Duchess of York, Prince Andrew, and Sarah Ferguson. The former couple is also grandparents to Princess Beatrice’s daughter Sienna Elizabeth apart from August and Earnest.
The Duchess of York previously shared her feelings about being a grandmother in an interview and said, “One, I’m really proud of my girls. Two, I have very good grandchildren. They just follow me around like Peter Pan. I’m Super Gran Pan. Whenever they see me, they laugh. They think I’m very funny. August is teaching me about trains. My girls had Barbie dolls.”
