Nicki Minaj might have to vacate her home soon! The pop star’s neighbors in the Hidden Hills, Los Angeles are trying to get her and her husband Kenneth Petty out of the neighborhood, owing to the latter’s sexual offender status.
A petition has also been started by the residents of the area seeking the couple’s ousted from their home. Minaj and Petty bought the property in December last year for a whopping $19.5 million. Read on to know more about the development.

The whole fiasco started when Petty, convicted of sexual assault against a 16-year-old girl, updated his California address on Megan’s Law, the registered sex offender database. The 45-year-old was previously registered as a sex offender in New York and served one year of home detention for not registering in California.
The update caught the attention of the residents of the neighborhood and they started opposing the move, claiming that his presence will reduce the value of the estate in the area. The neighbors also alleged that Petty could be a re-offender and a threat to their safety.
Hidden Hills Residents Start Petition for Ousted of Minaj and Petty
A change.org petition has also been organized by a resident named Beverly Bardan to make Minaj and Petty move out of their mansion. The petition, titled ‘Say No To Sex Offenders In Hidden Hills,’ has so far garnered more than 500 signatures.
“Kenneth Petty is a level 3 sex offender, convicted for the attempted rape of a 16 year old girl, and has a high likelihood to reoffend. He was also found guilty for killing a man. He is currently under house arrest for failing to register as a sex offender in California as law demands it,” reads the petition.
“The Petty couple moving in would lead to appraisal value of our homes to go DOWN due to safety concerns. It would lead to children and women being a target. We, the residents of Hidden Hills, must put our resident’s safety first.”
“Don’t wait to receive a letter from the government saying a predator has moved in near you. DO NOT allow this dangerous sex offender to live near you, SHOW that you are against sex offenders in our Hidden Hills neighborhood!” it states further.
Petty was Convicted of Rape in 1995
Petty’s sexual offender status comes from a 1995 incident when he was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. He was also 16 at the time and served four years in prison. Minaj addressed her husband’s conviction after the backlash and said, “He was 15, she was 16…in a relationship. But go awf, internet, y’all can’t run my life.”
In 2020, he was again arrested for failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to California following his marriage with Minaj. At the time, he was sentenced to three years in probation and one year of home detention, along with a fine of $55,000. He is now nearing the completion of the home detention.
