What was the cause of his death?
Montreal Canadiens Legend Guy Lafleur has passed away. As of now, the cause of the five-time Stanley Cup champion’s death is not known but he had been battling lung cancer since October 2020. In the past, he had a cancerous lobe in his left lung which he got removed in the year 2019.
Guy’s team paid a tribute to him on Twitter, and wrote, “The entire Montreal Canadiens organization is mourning the loss of legendary Hall-of-Famer and Canadiens Ambassador Guy Lafleur, who passed away at the age of 70. Rest in peace, Guy.” We must say, he was one of the greatest hockey players of his generation.

To date, Lafleur was able to register a total of 518 goals and 728 assists in 14 seasons with Montreal. He was born on 20 September 1951, in Thurso, Canada. He was also known as “The Flower” and “The Blond Demon”.
What did the President of Montreal Canadiens have to say about Lafleur’s death?
Montreal Canadiens President Geoff Molson issued a statement that read, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Guy Lafleur. All members of the Canadiens organization are devastated by his passing.”
Molson further added, “Guy Lafleur had an exceptional career and always remained simple, accessible, and close to the Habs and hockey fans in Quebec, Canada and around the world. Throughout his career, he allowed us to experience great moments of collective pride. He was one of the greatest players in our organization while becoming an extraordinary ambassador for our sport.”
