Mexican superstar Andrés García passes away at 81
Famed Mexican-Dominican actor Andrés García left for the heavenly abode on April 4, 2023. The Mexican actor’s partner Margarita Portillo confirmed his passing on Tuesday afternoon.
Portillo started by writing, “With a pain that I did not know I could feel in my soul, I want to inform the public that always followed and loved my husband, family and friends, as well as the media, that my husband, Andrés García, the love of my loves, is resting beside our Lord Jesus.”
In the Instagram post, Margarita stated that Andrés had been ill for some time. She had been taking care of him at their home in Acapulco. She revealed that her husband received a blood infusion on Sunday and mentioned that his “body was too weak.”
She went on to say, “I was by his side taking care of him and loving him until his last breath. He left in peace and in a manner that I thank God. Andrés abandoned planet Earth at 3:07 p.m.”
Portillo continued, “His body will be veiled in this, which is his home, starting tomorrow, April 5, at 9:00 a.m., on Calle Urracas No. 20 of the Fraccionamiento Costa Brava in the city and port of Acapulco.”
What was the cause behind Andrés García’s death?
The cause behind García’s death was hepatic cirrhosis. According to Mayo Clinic, cirrhosis is severe scarring of the liver. This condition can be caused by various forms of liver diseases such as hepatitis and chronic alcoholism.
When the liver gets injured due to some reason, it tries to repair itself and this process results in the formation of scar tissues. The increasing number of scar tissues makes it difficult for the liver to function properly.
The symptoms of cirrhosis are as follows: fatigue, bleeding, loss of appetite, nausea, fluid accumulation in the abdomen, swelling, yellow discoloration in the skin, weight loss, clubbing of the fingers, redness in the palms of the hands, and itchy skin.
Who was Andrés García?
Andrés García was a popular Mexican actor who was born on May 24, 1941, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He shot to fame after starring in the film adaptation of the comic series Chanoc.
Over the years, García appeared in a few films like Las tres magnificas, La noche del halcón, Minifaldas con espuelas and El cinico. In addition to this, he was also a part of many telenovelas such as Las gemelas (1972), Ana del Aire (1974), Paloma (1975), Ámame (1979), Tú o nadie (1985), Escándalo (1986) and Mi nombre es Coraje (1988).
García’s last acting credit came in the year 2010 when he made a guest appearance in an episode of the series Hay alguien ahí. Andrés is survived by his wife Margarita Portillo and three children.
