Lately, YouTube star Ruby Franke has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons! For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Franke is a YouTuber and a mom of six who is originally from Utah.
On Wednesday, the social media star who has a YouTube channel named ‘8 Passengers’ was arrested by the cops on the counts of aggravated child abuse after the cops found a minor with open wounds and duct tape on their extremities. Read on to catch more insights about Ruby Franke and her arrest.
Why did YouTuber Ruby Franky get arrested?
Ruby Franky, the mommy blogger who is behind one of YouTube’s most popular channels ‘8 Passengers’ has been arrested by the cops in Utah. She has been booked on a total of 2 counts of aggravated child abuse.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office website, at the moment, the momfluencer is listed as “in custody” following her arrest that happened on August 30, 2023, Wednesday.
The media outlet Page Six has reported that Ruby’s business partner and ConneXions co-founder, Jodi Hildebrandt, was also arrested by the cops during that day under the same suspicions.
In Utah, the definition of the term ‘ Aggravated Child Abuse’ includes head injuries from hitting or shaking, broken bones, starvation, and suffocation. If any of these is intentionally caused, the accused person can face up to 15 years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.
How did Ruby Franke’s siblings react to her arrest?
Soon after Franke’s arrest, her sisters put out a joint statement on social media, mentioning that justice “needed to happen.” The statement read, “For the last 3 years we have kept quiet on the subject of our sister Ruby Franke for the sake of her children. Behind the public scene we have done everything we could to try and make sure the kids were safe.”
Franke’s siblings stated that they “wouldn’t feel right” about posting “regular content” without addressing Franke’s arrest. They went on to say, “Ruby was arrested which needed to happen. Jodi was arrested which needed to happen.”
At the time of Ruby’s arrest, her estranged daughter Shari posted a picture of the cops on her Instagram page. “Finally,” she wrote in the caption of the photo. She also shared that she’s glad her family has got justice.
In her second story, Shari penned, “Today has been a big day. Me and my family are so glad justice is being served. We’ve been trying to tell the police and CPS for years about this, and so glad they finally decided to step up.”
She further added, “Kids are safe, but there’s a long road ahead. Please keep them in your prayers and also respect their privacy.”
At one point, Ruby and her husband Kevin Franke had 2.5 million subscribers on their YouTube channel ‘8 Passengers’ which revolved around the lives of Ruby, her hubby Kevin, and their six kids: Shari, Chad, Abby, Julie, Russell, and Eve.
Kevin’s attorney, Randy S. Kester, told Page Six, that his “urgent focus is simply to keep his children together under his fatherly care.”
