Mama June Shannon’s eldest daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, has been diagnosed with cancer. The 28 year old is battling stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, which was first diagnosed in January.

Mama June Shannon’s Daughter Anna Cardwell Diagnosed with Cancer

A source close to the Shannon family has revealed that Anna had been complaining about stomach aches for a few weeks, after which she got a series of tests done in January 2023. She was then diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, which has already spread to her liver, kidney, and lung.

Anna underwent her first round of chemotherapy in February and is said to be losing hair already. Doctors are now waiting to see how her body responds to the treatment to decide on a further set of procedures. Meanwhile, her family is ‘very hopeful’ that she will emerge victorious over the disease.

Just a few days before the news broke, Anna made her return to Instagram to post a selfie on March 28 after being missing from the platform since July 2022. “Well I ain’t posted here in a while. Your girl is back sorry for the photo dump that’s going to happen hahah I love y’all and I hope y’all hope y’all are having a good week #imback #2023 #tiktok,” she wrote.

Anna is a Mother to Two Children

The former television personality is a mother to two kids: 10-year-old Kaitlyn and 7-year-old Kylee, whom she shared with her ex-husband Michael Cardwell. The couple was married for three years before going their separate ways in 2017. Anna is currently in a relationship with Eldridge Toney.

She also suffered multiple miscarriages while trying to conceive a baby with Toney. “It’s been a long, bumpy road for us. It’s been difficult. I don’t make enough progesterone. I don’t have enough in my system, so it keeps the baby from getting enough nutrition,” she revealed in an interview in 2021.

Talking about her marriage plans with Toney, Anna said she was not very keen to tie the knot once again. “You never know what will happen. I always tell him marriage is just a piece of paper saying, ‘Hey you’re married.’ I told myself if we make it past four years, then we can talk more about it,” Anna explained.

Anna has Shared a Strained Relationship with June

Anna is Mama June’s daughter with her ex-boyfriend David Dunn. She had shared a difficult relationship with her mother since 2003, when she was molested by June’s then-boyfriend and registered sex offender Mark McDaniel. Anna then had to leave her mother’s home and live with her grandmother.

“A week or so after it happened, I talked to Mama and she was upset, crying and saying, ‘I don’t believe you, I don’t believe you, why would you do this to me?’ And I was like, ‘Mama, he did that to me and I can’t do anything about it. You were never there to see it. You were always at work,’” she revealed in 2014.
