Actor Roger E. Mosley, best known for playing helicopter pilot Theodore ‘T.C.’ Calvin on the CBS crime drama Magnum, P.I. has passed away. He died early Sunday morning at the age of 83.
An official cause of death has not been announced yet; however, his daughter had recently revealed that the actor was involved in a car accident and was in a critical condition. Read on to know more about the actor’s unfortunate death.
Roger’s Daughter Confirms his Death
The actor’s death was confirmed by his daughter Ch-a Mosley via a Facebook post. She shared a photo of her deceased father and wrote, “Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your “coach Mosley” your “TC” from Magnum P.I., passed away at 1:17am. He was surrounded by family as he transcended peacefully.”
She further added that her father did not want any one to cry over his death. She wrote, “We could never mourn such an amazing man. He would HATE any crying done in his name. It is time to celebrate the legacy he left for us all. I love you daddy. You loved me too. My heart is heavy but I am strong. I will care for mommy, your love of almost 60 years. You raised me well and she is in good hands. Rest easy.”
The Actor was Paralyzed after Car Accident
On August 6, Roger’s daughter had shared the news that her father had been paralyzed below the shoulders following a car accident the previous week. She shared a photograph with her parents on Facebook and wrote, “Last week my dad, Roger E. Mosley was involved in a major car accident that has left him paralyzed from the shoulders down.”
She then revealed that her father was in critical condition. “He is in a critical condition but fighting hard. Every effort is being made to care for him during this time. And he is constantly accompanied by family and friends,” she added.
She further wrote, “This is a VERY hard time for us as we all know Roger to be a lion, the king of everywhere he brought himself. He is a legend, a trailblazer, a roll model, a friend to his communities. He is my “Mr. Man.” Please send him your love.”
Roger Appeared in Several TV Shows and Films
Roger was most famous for starring as helicopter pilot Theodore ‘T.C.’ Calvin in the original Magnum, P.I. He appeared in 158 episodes of the show during its eight-year run from 1980 to 1988. When the show was rebooted in 2018, he made a cameo playing a different character.
Apart from Magnum, P.I., Roger also appeared in a number of other shows as well including Love Boat, Night Gallery, Sanford and Son, Kung Fu, Kojak, The Rockford Files, Starsky and Hutch, You Take the Kids, Night Court, Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, Walker, Texas Ranger, Rude Awakening, Las Vegas and McCloud.
Mosley also had some film credits to his name, including The Mack, Hit Man, Sweet Jesus, The River Niger, Preacherman and Darktown Strutters. The actor is survived by three children.
