A little bit about Tim’s personal life
Sale was born on May 1, 1956 in Ithaca, New York, U.S. He was the son of Dorothy Young and Roger Sale, a literary critic. He spent a large majority of his childhood in Seattle, Washington. He and his family moved to Seattle when he was six years old.
Tim enrolled at the University of Washington for two years before moving to New York City to attend the School of Visual Arts. He also went on to attend the comics workshop run by artist John Buscema. He returned to Seattle before graduating from SVA.
Tim began doing art and visuals for the series MythAdventures in the year 1983 and soon afterward, he started working on Thieves’ World. He also went on bag Eisner Award in 1999 in the “Best Artist/Penciller/Inker or Penciller/Inker Team” category.
Tim Sale was well-known for his collaborations with Jeph Loeb
Most of Tim’s work was in partnership with a writer named Jeph Loeb, who is better known for being a producer-writer on Smallville, Lost, Commando, and Teen Wolf, and a writer and co-executive producer on Heroes and later EVP of Marvel Television.
The two of them created Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Specials, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory which covered Batman’s early years, Superman for All Seasons and Catwoman: When in Rome.
For those of you who are unversed, let us tell you The Long Halloween has been considered an influence on Christopher Nolan’s Batman films and it looks like it’s a part of the DNA of Matt Reeves’ latest film The Batman.
When we talk about Marvel, Tim and Jeph joined hands together to produce the so-called “Color” comic books which consisted of Daredevil: Yellow, Spider-Man: Blue, Hulk: Gray and Captain America: White.
