Kanye West had been playing a bit of hide-and-seek with his own lawyers in times when he needed them the most. As his lawyers continue to contact him, the rapper had been ignoring their texts for a long time. However, in a classic move, Ye’s legal team decided to take an alternative route – publishing newspaper ads – to declare that they’ve cut ties with the controversial rapper.
Ye, You No Longer Have Legal Support!
Kanye West, if you’re reading this article, know that your lawyers are done with you! The rapper’s legal team is so fed up with the rapper that they’ve decided to publish newspaper ads, declaring that they’re done representing him. The move to convey the judicial order in a “very public way” comes after Kanye stopped responding to his legal team.
Now, we don’t know if Ye is too busy with his supposed new wife, or is pulling another PR stunt, but one thing is sure! Greenberg Traurig, LLP is taking all the steps to convey the “withdrawal order” granted to them in November 2022. Ye was recently spotted with the 28-year-old designer in Beverly Hills.
According to recent legal documents, Greenberg Traurig, LLP claims there’s been “a communication breakdown” with Kanye after they made several attempts to inform him that they’re off the case. Therefore, the company decided to use “alternative means” to reach him. This includes putting ads out in 2 L.A.-based newspapers and publishing the order from the judge, which allows them to withdraw from the case.
What’s The Motive Behind Newspaper Ads?
If you aren’t aware, Greenberg Traurig, LLP was representing Kanye West in his infamous copyright infringement case against Ultra International Music Publishing. However, presiding Judge Analisa Torres allowed the law firm’s motion to quit representing their client on Nov. 30, 2022. However, a two week was granted to serve him the court documents.
But as we all know that Kanye has been pretty MIA since he declared his love for Hitler. Since his series of antisemitic tirades, everyone has cut ties with the rapper. In fact, he was dropped by several companies like Adidas, Foot Locker and Balenciaga, giving him a huge financial blow. This list was extended with Greenberg Traurig LLP’s withdrawal from Kanye’s copyright infringement case.
In December, Greenberg Traurig LLP, which represented the rapper in lawsuits over business deal crash to copyright issues, released a statement: ” We condemn antisemitism and all hate speech or bigotry, which is repugnant to the core values we believe in and live. This is why we have moved to withdraw from our representations” of West in his litigation.
As for the newspaper ads, the law firm’s move is described as a “multi-pronged approach” designed to “apprise him of the Withdrawal Order”. This would finalize him being dropped as the law firm’s client. The legal team’s announcement came shortly after it was reported that Ye supposedly got married to 28-year-old Yeezy designer Bianca Censori.
“Publication of the Withdrawal Order’s contents in two Los Angeles-area newspapers, where Ye appears to reside, will also apprise him of the Withdrawal Order,” the legal filing suggests.
“Given Ye’s public status, publication of the Withdrawal Order will likely garner significant media attention, resulting in broader publication and provide an even greater likelihood of apprising Ye of the Order,” the legal filing further mentioned. Now, we don’t know if Ye’s been reading newspapers, but if you get across my article, spread the word!
