Julee Cruise, Singer of ‘Twin Peaks’ Fame Dies at 65

American singer, songwriter, actress, and musician Julee Cruise popular for her haunting voice and her collaborations with composer Angelo Badalamenti and film director David Lynch died on 9th June at the age of 65.

Julee Cruise is best known for her works – Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet in collaboration with David Lynch.

Edward Grinnant, her husband has confirmed the news of her death on Facebook.

He wrote, “For those of you who go back I thought you might want to know that I said goodby to my wife, Julee Cruise, today. She left this realm on her own terms. No regrets. She is at peace. Having had such a varied music career she often said that the time she spent as a B filling in for Cindy while she was having a family was the happiest time of her performing life.”

“She will be forever grateful to them. When she first stepped up to the mic with Fred and Kate she said it was like joining the Beatles. She will love them always and never forget their travels together around the world. I played her Roam during her transition. Now she will roam forever. Rest In Peace, my love, and love to you all”, he concluded.

In 2018, Cruise updated via her official Facebook handle about her battle with Systemic Lupus. She revealed that she was facing terrible pain and was not able to walk and stand.

She wrote, “Muy spine is crumbling , and pinching on nerves, with tips and tears I in g The dcis, and. Now a major nerve c Down my leg, I do t take opiates, But the pain is so bad I cry and snap at people.”

Cruise gained prominence for her song “Falling”, the lead single and second track from her debut studio album, Floating into the Night released in the year 1989.

She featured in “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” movie as a roadhouse singer released in 1992. She made a comeback for the revival series, Twin Peaks: The Return after a gap of 25 years in 2017.

One of her hit singles includes “Rockin’ Back Inside My Heart” released in 1990 and “If I Survive” in 1999. Her last album, “My Secret Life”, was released in the year 2011.

Early life and career

Julee Cruise was born in the year 1956 in Creston, Iowa. She studied French horn at Drake University. She started her career as a singer and actress with the Children’s Theater Company in Minneapolis. She later relocated to New York and portrayed the character of Janis Joplin in the theatrical entertainment, Beehive.

She worked with American composer Angelo Badalamenti and film director David Lynch between 1985 to 1995. In her career spanning more than two decades, she released four albums and also collaborated with several other artists.

She opened up about her working relationship with David in an interview in 2018 saying that she is like his little sister.

Julee is survived by her husband and other family members.
