John Paulson Divorce Battle: Jenny Paulson Refuses Multi-Billion-Dollar Settlement Offer

Billionaire Jaun Paulson’s bitter divorce battle against his wife Jenny Paulson started last year. The case has been filed in Suffolk County, New York, with John Paulson represented by William D. Zabel. Now, the divorce battle has turned nasty as Jenny has turned down a multi-billion-dollar settlement offer. Read on to learn more about this case.

Jenny Needs More Money…

Hedge founder John Paulson’s wife Jenny Paulson has turned down a whopping settlement offer that is said to be worth billions. John Paulson is worth more than $4 billion and there is no prenup agreement in their marriage. Jenny, 50 has now terminated all private settlement discussions and chosen to go back to the court to fight against her billionaire husband for more money and marital property.

Something that was termed “epic divorce” last year, has actually turned into the same as the move sets the stage for a battle over John’s billions of dollars and their extensive property holding, like estates in Southampton and Aspen as well a 28,000-square-foot apartment in Manhattan.

John, who insists he was committed to settling amicably to end his 21-year-old marriage, stated in an interview, “I have been trying to meet in person with Jenny and her lawyers to discuss a settlement for the last eight months. She has rejected all offers of arbitration or mediation.”

John’s lawyer, Bill Zabel, adds, “People would have been astounded by the generosity of Mr Paulson’s offer, which would have given Mrs Paulson far more than what is required by law. Her greed has created an insurmountable obstacle to settlement.” Zabel further alleges that Jenny has attempted to take money from trusts set up for their teenage daughters “to enrich herself”.

FYI, John created the non-amendable trusts over 20 years ago to protect their children, but now Jenny “wishes to seize the assets in these trusts for herself. Zabel states, “To do so would be unconscionable, and neither New York nor Delaware law would permit it.” Jenny has denied such allegations.

About the Epic Divorce…

It was revealed last September that Jenny and John Paulson are divorcing after more than 20 years of marriage. The split was referred to as a billionaire family that’s set to reshape one of the world’s largest self-made fortunes. The case was filed in Suffolk County, New York, with John Paulson represented by William D. Zabel. The New York Post, which reported on the split earlier, said there’s no pre-nuptial agreement.

John wanted to settle the divorce amicably but Jenny has made the situation even more sour claiming that she found out about the divorce on “Page Six” and about the fact that her billionaire husband is dating 34-year-old dietician Alina de Almeida.

Sources said the new couple met last summer, and things have been going so well that they are living together in John’s swanky Fifth Avenue apartment in Olympic Tower. FYI, John withdrew his divorce case in October to reach an amicable out-of-court settlement, but it has been refiled in  Suffolk County, NY, near his large mansion in Southampton.

A Word From Jenny’s Legal Team

Jenny’s attorney, Robert S. Cohen, insists she is not trying to access her two daughters’ trusts for her own gain. He tells us, “There is no issue with her trying to take money from the kids. She is a terrific mother.”

Cohen, of the firm Cohen Clair Lans Greifer Thorpe & Rottenstreich, says they had been in personal negotiations for six months to try to reach a settlement, “but [John] was offering her an allowance that he would control,” adding, “Husbands who have made a fortune in a marriage do not give their wives allowances.” What do you think about this case?
