Jimmy Buffett Hospitalized in Boston, Postpones Charleston Concert

Jimmy Buffett has been hospitalized due to a medical issue ‘that needed immediate attention.’ The singer, who was supposed to perform in Charleston, South Carolina along with the Coral Reefer Band this weekend, had to postpone the concert due to his hospitalization.

The 76-year-old singer did not disclose the nature of his ailment, however, he did hint that it has something to do with old age. Buffett had been performing across different venues in the last few months and had returned from a trip to the Bahamas just last week.

Jimmy Buffett Hospitalized, Cancels Charleston Concert

The singer, known for his beach songs Margaritaville and It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere, was set to have a show in Charleston on Saturday with the Coral Reefer Band. On Thursday, he released a statement on social media and on his website, announcing the postponement of the concert owing to his bad health.

“Two days ago, I was just back from a trip to the Bahamas, thawing out from the California “winter tour,” and chomping at the bit to get to Charleston. I had to stop in Boston for a check-up but wound up back in the hospital to address some issues that needed immediate attention,” Buffett wrote.

He did not reveal the reason behind the hospitalization, but added, “Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you. I also will promise you, that when I am well enough to perform, that is what I’ll be doing in the land of She-Crab soup.”

The Previously Purchased Concert Tickets will be Valid for the New Date

The singer did not announce the new date for the postponed concert. The upcoming events list on his official website also remains empty. However, he did confirm that the tickets purchased for the May 20th Charleston concert will be valid for the new date.

“The Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band concert at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, scheduled for this Saturday, May 20th, is being rescheduled. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced. More information will be emailed to ticket purchasers directly,” read the statement.

Buffet also thanked his fans for their continuous support and wrote, “You all make my life more meaningful and fulfilled than I would have ever imagined as a toe-headed little boy sitting on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, your amazing years of loyalty, and just remember, NOT YET!”

Buffett Earlier Rescheduled Shows in September Last Year

This is the second time in around nine months that the singer had to reschedule his concerts due to a health scare. He earlier postponed five shows in Las Vegas, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Nampa, and Idaho, that were initially set to take place in October 2022.

“Due to health issues and brief hospitalization, Jimmy will need to refrain from touring for the rest of the year. On doctor’s orders, he must take this time to recuperate and heal. Jimmy looks forward to getting back on stage next year,” Buffett’s reps announced in September last year.

We wish Jimmy Buffett a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on stage soon.
